I'm interested in learning more about how much revenue various states earn by issuing CCW permits. I recall seeing that the CCW permit was a cash cow for Florida, but I haven't been able to find any reputable sources.
Can anyone point me towards any newspaper articles or other reliable sources that show how much states earn for issuing CCW permits?
Any articles showing the cost that the state incurs for issuing the permits would also be of interest.

In Ohio the fee goes to the county sheriff issuing the permit, not to the state. The sheriffs say the $45.00 fee doesn't cover their actual cost to administer the program.

$60/ea in AZ, which is actually what it costs our Department of Public Safety in terms of materials and man-hours to process each permit application. DPS is actually required by state law to cap the fee at their administrative cost - IIRC back in 1997 or so, they wound up reducing the fee from $75.
