SW99 versus SigPro

I have a relatively new SW99 in 9mm that I like quite well - good accuracy, DA/SA trigger, decocker, no problems at all - I mostly use it for a range gun and occasional CCW in the winter. However, I handled a SigPro 2009 in 9mm the other day and was very impressed with its balance, quality, and price ($429 with standard sights). I like a slightly 'nose heavy' gun, as they tend to shoot better for me, with less recoil, and the SigPro fits that description better than my SW99. All thoughts and insights appreciated on whether I'm crazy to consider trading this SW99 for the SigPro in 9mm.

I have no experience with either, but I so know that Sig makes some good stuff. If you like the way the Sig feels better than you P99 I'd say go for it. I don't think you are giving up any quality in the firearm by doing so. Just make sure you are getting a good deal.

If you feel getting a SIG Pro is a step up & not a lateral step, then by all means, change. SIG does have the reputation for making a fine firearm so I doubt you'd be making a mistake. But, if the SW99 has work well for you & you're just changing for change sake...I'd keep the SW99 & just add to the collection ;)

I had a Pro. It was just too big for a 10 round 9mm. Since it was released postban there are no civilian high caps. I am not a high capacity nut ( I carry a revolver, or a Sig 239 ) but if a gun was designed around a 15-16 rd. magazine thats what I want. I traded the Pro and replaced it with a Sig 229.

The sig pro 2009 9mm will accept the 2340 .40/357 mags and will hold 12 rounds. Feeds very well.

Be aware that loading 12 9mm rounds in 40 cal mags intended for 10 rounds is illegal. It's done ( I've heard ) on other mfgrs. guns as well, but probably shouldn't be suggesed on a public forum. Just a thought, not meant to flame anybody.

No, it's not. As long as the magazine can still be used in the original firearm / caliber for which it was manufactured it's perfectly legal to use it in other ways such as this.

Thanks to all for your input. To summarize, it sounds like I can get a little more capacity (no a big deal for me, but nice) and the fit and finish might be a step up from SW99 to SigPro.
Any input on handling of the two, or at least the SigPro, in terms of recoil, accuracy, etc.? Thanks.

I was able to shoot the SigPro 2009 (9mm) before buying, and I was quite impressed with the feel and shootability of the gun. It weighs only about 3 oz more than the SW99 but it feels more substantial and 'nose heavy'. I like the latter feature, as it seems to stay on target better. Very accurate and I was able to get the new SigPro model, which has both a decocker and a safety, for $429. Not a steal, but a good price for this area. So, I went ahead and traded in the SW99 and the SigPro will take its place.
