can someone take a good picture comparing the frame sizes of the S&W revolvers?
i have an L frame, had a taurus snubbie (comparable to a J frame?)
but i cant for the life of me picture the size difference between a L and K or an L and N.
some of you have all im sure, can you take one picture for me with one of each lined up?
i know this is asking a bit, but to those that respond...
thank you...

Well, maybe this will help some.

From the top, Smith K frame M-19, Colt D frame Detective Specila, Colt Army Special (was that the Colt I frame??? can't keep the Colt selections straight), and bottom, Smith M-27 which was a N frame.
The K and L frames are very, very similar, more beefied up in the strap and forcing cone than a size difference.

Don't know if it will help much,
But here's a picture of a 4inch barreled Model 29 pictured next to my ParaOrdinance P14.
Full size 1911 next to N-framed 44Mag.

jar,
"The K and L frames are very, very similar, more beefied up in the strap and forcing cone than a size difference"
so, if you can conceal a M19 or M65 3'' then a 696 snubbie (L frame 44 special) shouldnt be a problem?
is it not that much bigger of a pistol?
thanks for the pictures guys!

696 often goes well in holster for 19.
Just a tad snug at first.
19 would be a little loose goin into a well used 696 holster tho.

Here is one of each. Top to bottom: 625 Mountain Gun (N-frame in .45 ACP), 686 snubbie (L-frame in .357), and 442 (j-frame in .38 special).

Top left K, followed by a stainless N, then a blue K, another SS N, ignore the auto, last one is a J.
As you can see, the N has a massive cylinder and overall a larger frame. You will know when you are looking at an N frame. It is the normal platform for the 44s and 45s. There is no mistaking a J either. It is small. It is the most common platform for snubby and the alloy lines.
K and L are pretty much the same. They are commonly the 6 shot 38/357 platforms. The L is just beefier in certain spots around the cylinder / topstrap area. The Ls most commonly encountered are the 586/686 series. Being familiar with model numbers helps.
