Damn, I love reloading. I'm pretty much a 40 S&W loadin' junkie, its like an addiction, can't seem to quit, lol.
These are 165 gr Ranier's with 7 grains Longshot, its pretty sweet, I really like how they shoot.:)

I've got about 750 rounds loaded with this recipe, they shoot great, chrono about 1050-1100 fps and they cluster into a 4" circle.:)

Try some Universal Clays. You can get that velocity with less powder, and it is very accurate and clean. Longshot, of course, will out do it in velocity if you want to push it hard.

Universal is very nice in .40 especially, with the 165's. Shot some Zero JHP's last weekend over 4.8 grains and found it provided a very pleasant recoil track with outstanding groups at 25 yards benched. Universal's properties in .40 offering a lot of load versatility minus, the flash & bang.

I like longshot because the pressures are significantly lower, I figure I'm running about ~28,000 psi with my load. To get the velocity with Universal, above 1050 fps, its running around 32,000 psi, according to the data on Hodgdon's website.

That is a good point. Does it burn clean at the lower pressures?

Yeah, I'm getting very little residue in the chamber and barrel, significantly less than Unique. I like it.:)

@Manley: How do you like those Zero bullets? I've found a couple of threads about them and they seem pretty good...and the price is VERY good.
@XD: DEFINITELY some purdy rounds. I just bought some of the Ranier 180s for .40 and can't wait to get 'em loaded up!
