I'm thinking of getting in to the sport, so what's your thoughts on handguns, 38 /357 or 45 colt. Now on the shot gun I was thinking Of an EEA coach gun. Will one pistol work or will I need two?

you'll need 2 pistols, a carbine in pistol caliber,and a shotgun.
I shoot 45's because I like to RING the steel targets, not ping them.
but.. 38's are cheaper to load if you reload, cheaper to buy if you don't,and have much less recoil..in gneral..for quicker recovery times between shots.

Exactly what Throckmorton has said. I started with .45s , then went to .32s, and finally settled on .357/.38s.

You will save about 1/3 if you reload .38s compared to .45s --- I've often bought .38 brass for $30/$35 per 1000 used ---- can never find .45LC for that price.

ALso --- if ya look often , you will find more used .45 cowboy guns for sale then 357/38.

The EAA shotguns are good ---- I like the Stouger Uplander with 26" brls. ----- does double duty as a good bird/HD gun also. The longer brl. helps open the SG to reload .

I use Bob Mernickle holsters/belt -- he is a true Master with leather and a World Record holder in Quick Draw competion ---- knows how to make a holster/draw fasssst .

It hurts to buy a holster rig for $350 or so --- BUT --- buy the best and you only cry ONCE !!! My Bob Mernickle rig has lasted over 7 years of shooting 2/4 matches a month -- rain or shine , and still looks/works great.
