Hodgdon owns IMR powders now and distributes them. They also distribute Winchester powders and the data is available on the www.hodgdon.com site.

IMR stands for Improved Military Rifle. Originally made by Dupont, then sold to a company that called themselves the IMR powder company. Hodgdon now owns and distributes the IMR powders.
By putting the IMR in (...) they are differentiating between the same numbers that Hodgdon distributes like H- 4831 and IMR 4831, get it/

Hodgdon bought out IMR Powder (previously of New York). That was the US distributor. They do NOT own the factory. That is in Canada and the last time I looked it up a few months ago, was owned by General Dynamics. Been there since the 1970s when DuPont got out of the powder business.
They can't very well "weed out" the IMR and H stuff, they are two different lines of powder. IMR from Canada, H from Australia. The numbers are the same but the letters are not, and neither are the powders. Some people prefer one, some the other and Hodgdon wants to sell powder to both of them.
Hodgdon started out selling WW II surplus powder, most made by IMR, and when stocks ran low, they began having powder made kinda sorta like it. First by ICI in England, then by ADI in Australia.
