Got to pick up the new P-01 today & bring it home to play with the others!:D
I was surprised to see the the slide stamped "'04". My dealer said he's had it for a year, so does it take 3 years for CZ's to make it over on a slow boat & get engraved by CZ-USA?
I was also really impressed to see that the pistol came with 5 (plastic) snap caps. I was gonna buy some, as they're nice for instructional purposes, and I've read that they are recommended in the 75's.

Now the bad:
A plastic guide rod? Really? and it's bent. Does this thing need to flex, or can it be replaced with something less cheap looking?
Is it normal for a double stack 9mm magazine to rattle when loaded? If I ever get to carry this thing, that's gonna drive me up the wall.
Is the barrel stainless? or is it going to rust if I polish off that crappy grey finish?

All that said, I love this gun. The factory grips are fantastic, the shape is perfect, and it has every thing I could ask for straight from the factory. One of these days, when the weather gets better (or I get within 50 miles of an indoor range) I'll file a range report.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm jealous. I'm hoping to pick up a P-01 in the next couple of weeks, the trick will be tracking one down in my area. I've heard nothing but good things about this gun (except the plastic guide rod like you've mentioned). Let me know how it works out for you.

Congrats on a nice gun.
I bought my SP01 in August 08, its stamped 06. I think the CZs sit on the shelf for a while b/c ppl dont know what great firearms they are.
As far as I know all CZs have the plastic guide rod. My SP01 does. Stainless steel guide rods are available.
My new mags rattled the first couple times I loaded them up. Now they dont rattle. I think the follower has to "find its groove" in the mag or something. They function fine.
Alot of guys have polished the barrels and dont have problem with rust, just keep a light coat of oil on it. Its something Ive been wanting to do for a while with mine.

Loaded mags rattle in my similar PCR, as they have on some other double-stacks I've owned. It seems odd but has no effect on function.
