Good evening, all.

I've been searching the threads here but have been unable to find a solution to my problem. It's a problem that's been discussed, and warned about, but unfortunately for me, I hadn't had the problem, and so never paid attention to the warnings!

I cannot open my Taurus 94. I suspect that the extractor rod has become loose enough to prevent it from allowing the cylinder to be opened.

Is there any way to tighten that rascal in place? Or is there a way to get the thing open? I guess I'm oepn to any suggestions and I really don't care much if I scratch or mar the finish a little, this ain't a collector it's a shooter...or it least it was until I couldn't open it up any more.

Thanks for any help, and I suppose there is some humor in this situation somewhere, so if I deserve a ribbing, bring it on!

Dave

May take three hands, but:

Pull the hammer back just enough for the cylinder bolt to allow the cylinder to turn. Maybe block it in that position with a stick or something?

Hold the extractor rod somehow and turn the cylinder back & forth slightly as far as the hand/ratchet will allow, and try to get a little thread turn each time until the cylinder will open.

(Very likely left-hand thread, although I can't swear to that on a Tauri)

At that point, you need to un-screw the extractor rod & take it out.
De-grease the threads with alcohol, then apply one small drop of BLUE Lock-Tight and reassemble.

Use a strip of leather, or several wraps of black electrical tape to protect the rod from plier damage.

Allow to cure overnight before firing it again.
