I'm specifically interested in the Big Game (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat602006-cat601560_TGP&id=0043015712759a&navCount=2&podId=0043015&parentId=cat601560&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=8IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601560&hasJS=true) model and your personal experience with it. It comes with 7 turrets calibrated for bullet drop out to and beyond 400 yards for calibers: .243 100-grain, .270 130-grain, .270 150-grain, .30-06 165-grain, .30-06 180-grain, .300 Win. mag. 180-grain, & .308 Winchester 150-grain. Also has fully-coated optics. I'm sure its no Nikon etc but if you have one I want to know your experience with it.

The 3-9 is $50 that should tell you all you need to know. It is probably made the same factory that makes BSA or bharska. If you want a cheap target scope look at the super sniper or the 10x bushnell 3200 tactical. If you want a cheap hunting setup go Bushnell 4200 or Nikon Team Primos (both 3-9x40).
Also look at SWFA.com for new or SWFA's Sample list for used/reconditioned scopes not Cabelas. SWFA is a scope specialty sight and their deals are good. Cabela's store brand stuff looks good in the catalog but is generally not so hot when compared to the good brands.

I know I know it's a $50 scope so it must be pure garbage. I want feed back for those who have this model on their 30 cal rifle. Not because "better" scopes don't exist but because for $50 I'm willing to try it. It use to be $99. I have had the 6-18x44mm SF Target Dot on my AR-15 Varmint rig for nearly 700rnds and it's been a great scope for the measly $150 I spent.
BTW I like both the Super Sniper 10x42mm Tactical (http://www.swfa.com/pc-4304-231-swfa-ss-10x42-tactical-riflescope.aspx) for $299 and the Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical 10x40mm (http://www.opticsale.com/bushnell-elite-3200-with-rainguard-10x40-321040m-matte-mil-dot-reticle-riflescopes.html) for $200ish that tou recommended. I've saved the SWFA web page to my favorites...thanks.

If it doesn't work or breaks I can return it to Cabelas...what do I have to loose? I just wanted to see if anyone here had anything to say specifically about them. There are around 25 decent reviews of the product on Cabelas web site but really like the honest feedback from THR.
BTW I ordered it...it's on backorder for a few weeks. I'll report back if I manage to break it etc.

Just for some perspective; how many .30-06 rounds between your Cabela's scope and the Nikon one suggested?
With ammo prices today it's sometimes helpful to look at it in terms of how many rounds you're talking about. A couple extra rezero sessions and the frustration involved may make that $150 difference seem less expensive.

^^ I reload...that makes it a few hundred. Don't get me wrong here guys and gals I'm not trying to be cheap for the sake of being cheap. I have looked through these and have the high power model on my 223 and it works great. I'm trying to find out if it's going to handle 308 recoil and hold zero...

Okay so Today I went to Cabelas to look through one again and it was fine nothing special certainly plenty usable. Played with the turrets and they click around like a $50 scope but worked fine.
I went and played with a few nice scopes and was really impressed by an Elite 3200 and a number of Leupold's & Nikons....humm 0% interest for 12mo on purchases over $199 with Cabelas Visa...

I personally prefer the Nikon Monarch BDC.
Don't get burned by Cabelas 0% interest "deal". Warning!! Don't get burned by this HOT Slick DEAL. Be aware that the Bank that Cabelas uses is World's Foremost Bank. It is basically owned by Cabelas. The Bank policy is such that it is "almost impossible" to get the 0% interest. This is their scam. Say your monthly statement is $1000. And say you have a 0% interest purchase of $500. Say you pay $1200 expecting the extra 200 to go to reducing the 0% balance (like most if not all of us would expect).
SURPRISE, the Bank will show 1000 going to pay the monthly bill, THEN it will apply the 200 to NEXT Month's bill (assuming you use the card and have been charging purchases to it). SO, your 0% balance IS NOT being paid as you expected and then WAMO, you get a bill with INTEREST charges on the SO CALLED 0% PURCHASE THAT YOU HAVE TRIED TO PAY OFF. Slick Deal indeed.
The only way not to get charged interest, is to NOT USE that card for the last couple of months of the promotion, then the Bank must apply payments to the 0% balance.
I personally think this is deceitful and false advertising. I have called Cabelas corporate office 308 254-5505 to complain and I urge you to do the same. Otherwise, get ready to be screwed and mis-lead.
