I searched the forum posts "Since the beginning" and couldn't find a thread on this. Sorry if it is bothersome but please help:

Anyone know where I can find DEPENDABLE 12 gauge low recoil 00 buck ammo online? Cabela's, Cheaper than Dirt and Sportsmansguide are all OUT OF STOCK :(

Oh and btw, all the local and metro Walmart stores in my area only have the bulk practice loads, NO BUCKSHOT!

HMM, I bought a bunch at a gunshow a while back and have no idea what brand it was. It shot good, didn't have any problems with it whatsoever, but I prefer to use high brass loads, I just like the fireball at the end of a 18inch barrel.:evil:

I use Remington shotgun ammo almost exclusively for defense, ill shot anything for practice but I like Remington ammo (cant stand Remington guns, but I wont get into that here, :D).

The 50-round sleeve is "controlled recoil" with the Flite Control shotcup.

The fiocchi 00 low recoil buck at the sportsmansguide is in stock. I load it maverick 88 with it! It patterns at ~6" at 12 yards for me.

I thought it was just me... I can't find any 00 buckshot at my nearby Wal-Marts, except for a couple of dusty boxes of 3" Magnum (no thank you).

What was a little scary is last time I went they were out of .22 bulk packs of Federal. :eek: That's the first time I've seen them out of stock of those, thought maybe somebody knows something I don't.

Oh and WWB 9mm was up another buck, seems like its a monthly occurrence.

I'm hoping it comes back down with the economy tanking...

I have shot many, many rounds of Federal Power-Shok Low Recoil 00-Buck through my particular shotgun (Benelli SuperNova) without issue. Recently, I purchased quite a few rounds of Federal LE Low Recoil 00-Buck (online), but have yet to fire these. But, based on how my shotgun has handled Federal rounds so far, Im not anticipating any problems at this point. However, these rounds are hard to come by. I bought mine through http://www.ammunitiontogo.com/. Right now, I think they are completely sold out of the Federal LE Buckshot.

I have heard that Hornady makes a decent round (particularly the LE TAP), but have yet to comfirm this myself. These should be much easier to find vs the Federal loads. They are currently in stock at the site mentioned earlier. Good luck.

That was really cool of the owner to swap you out.
I've asked about that and was told "no way!". Too much possible liability in the event that some yahoo messed with the ammo. Don't know how legally correct that is, but, I can see their point. The headaches involved with that kinda mess...OY! :uhoh:

I don't have any double aught, but I think if I had to choose a defensive load out of the 12 gauge ammo that I do have, I would choose the #2 geese/pheasant magnum loads.

What is special about the "low recoil" 00?

And why are they advertised as low recoil? Are they loaded weaker than normal 00 buckshot?

regular 00 buck is ~ 1325-1350fps and most low recoil is ~ 1150fps. It is much more manageable for followup shots and easy on the shoulder for practice.

Wal Marts seem to generally keep a low stock of any one loading. All it takes is one person buing 5 boxes of any particular load and they are sold out for the short time it takes for the distribution center to send out more.

Oddly, gun shops in my area seem to be loathe to carry a decent stock in most things as well. Finding brass case .223, Speer Gold Dot handgun ammo, and reduced recoil buck has been diffcult for well over a year (when I started shooting regularly again).

I generally check walley world first (they tend to be least expensive), then I call around to the local shops to see what they have in stock, then head to Gander Mountain, Bass Pro Shops, or Academy Sports (since they tend to be most expensive and are a further drive).

I just ordered 6 boxes of Winchester 12 gauge 00 buck winlite low recoil from midway. No defensive ammo at walmart and all the "local" gunshops are 30 miles+ away from where I live. I definately paid more than what I would have if I would have just went to the gun store, but hey, for convenience. :)

I was buying a lot of Winchester slugs and buckshot at Walmart last year. Have they begun dropping all the good stuff?
What about shotgun deer hunters? They seemed to concentrate on that customer base most in my local WWs. I was buying the 15 round bulk packs of slugs and buck there.


Haven't been this year yet. Still shooting up the stock on hand. :)

Don't know if you live in Tx, I just saw the metro area in your post but Academy always has a good selection of Rem buck and slugs in stock. They don't have anything else for defensive but always have Rem. RG

Almost all the Walmarts, Bass Pro Shops, and gun stores carry some kind of 12 ga, .30-30, or .30-06, and pretty much have throughout this entirely fabricated scare.

Almost ANY load is a defense load - just hit what you're aiming at. If there is a lesson here, it's don't get locked into the current boutique calibers. Popularity in not your friend - long term, wide spread availability is. In this case, #4, 5, or 6 can and will do the job.

The old tried and true that is pooh-poohed by the new agers is still out there.

For low recoil - HD or tactical - just step it down. You don't need the Magnum 2 oz. Supersplatterblam load when your target is less than 20 feet away. Even a cheap slug load will do.

ive resorted to buying some hornady tap from a LEO distributor...it was like 5.95 for a pack of 5...seemed reasonable
