Merry Christmas!!

Picked up my new Glock 30 from the shop and ran it through about 200 rounds. Damn good accuracy and minimal recoil. Got it loaded with some 230 gr Federal +Ps as it is my new CC gun. Well that and my Smith 638 as a BUG.

A quick question to other G30 owners, when I load the 10 round mags with 10 and put the weapon in condition 3, it is a bit difficult to seat the mag without giving it a good slap. That and when I put the gun in condition1 I feel the slide "dragging" a bit. Is this common with new mags? I noticed that when I load it with 9 rounds it does not do any of the actions mentioned, everything is smooth.

Very common and consider yourself fortunate in being able to get all 10-rounds in the magazines. Leave them loaded for a couple of weeks and they'll break in and become easier to load and seat in the pistol. The Glock 30 mags are historically tight when new.

Thanks. I will go ahead and do that when I get off work. The 10th round was a real SOB to get in the mag (mag loader helps out sometimes).

Congrats on the new Christmas present....a couple of my friends picked up the G30SF lately and are real pleased with them...got me to wanting one too! :D

As far as the mags being fully loaded and what you noticed is the exact reason I never load a mag to full capacity = That mag being hard to seat and the dragging you noticed due to the pressure on the slide. In a less than perfect grip defense situation I don't want anything slowing my slide down... and being able to lock a mag in place easily without the worry it didn't catch is worth one rd...plus, if you have to clear your weapon, you got a place to put the chamber rd....actually, with a 10 rd double stack mag in a compact pistol, I usually leave it down 2..I have 9 rds on tap (8 in the mag + 1 in the chamber) before a reload is necessary and I'll likely never need the 9rds, but if I do, that's what the spare mag is for ;)

My 27 is a pain to rack as well, totally common.
