Powder help needed

Little help here.

My FFL dealer gave me a 3 lb can of Winchester powder. It's branded WAP3. I can't find any reference to this powder. I can find WAP, with a reference to WAP1 as coming in a 1 lb can. Can I extrapolate this to mean WAP in a 3 lb can is WAP3 or is this a different animal?

Thanks.

Your assumption is correct.

they're starting to get too tricky for me, if I seen two powders on a shelf one marked XXX1 and the other marked XXX3, I'd be inclinded to think they were different powders, regardless if they were in different size containers.

But since I know there is winchester WAP, that comes in 1lb as well as 3lb, I make an assumption.

Here's a link to an older thread on WAP. Apparently it's the same powder as Ramshot Silhouette.

I have some old WAP (on hand, still good, purchased ca. fifteen or so years ago) and the new Ramshot. I did confirm with the Ramshot ballistician that WAP and Silhouette are the same powders--at least v-a-v charge recipes.

Silhouette offers distinct low-flash characteristics. Beyond that, I haven't been able to locate "Sweet Spot" loads in 38 Special or 357 Mag, no matter the (lead) bullets or recipe charges. I can concur it seems to prefer near-max loads--but the loads still didn't clean up.

I plan on usin it in 9mm loads. I will use the RS data.
