I'm trying to find cheap .38 ammo for my 686 4". Advice? Wolf, Winchester, Remy, etc? Who makes the least expensive, more for your dollar? Thanks.:)

The cheapest by far is the LRN or LSWC I find at gunshows for $5/50 (different small makers, packed loose in cardboard boxes). I can't get anywhere close to that with namebrand stuff.

After the initial lifetime lasting investment, loading your own makes the cheapest "Most Accurate" ammo.
The enjoyment of loading your own is really worth the investment as you can reuse the casings and dig the shot lead bullets or get free tire weights for your bulletcasting.

Fitz is absolutely and completely right.
If, however, you're simply not able to get into reloading right now, the cheapest .38 I've found--and still quite good--is Zero ammo, available on-line through rozedist.com.
They list several types and prices (shipped!), for new and reloaded ammo. Even cheaper, though, is their 'exchange' price, which you get if you send the used brass in an equivalent amount to what you order. Not so hard to save your brass with revolvers, after all. Now that I'm into reloading, I still order bullets from them to build into my own cartridges. Very inexpensive and very accurate.

I've had very good results with the Zero brand 148 LWC and 3.0 gr. of Unique. Strangely, I've never used the "classic" target load of the 148 WC and 2.7 of BullsEye.:p

When I order ammo(when I need new brass to reload), I like to order from Outdoor Marksman (http://www.outdoormarksman.com).
The Miwall Corp reloads are excellent and inexpensive, also quite consistent. You also get a nice plastic ammo can when you order cases of the Miwall ammo.
The Miwall New ammo is also nice.
Hope this helps,

Every once in a while Cabelas will run a special on 38 reloads. You may want to check them out--quantities are usually around 250-500 rounds.
