Morning all, my search-fu is weak today, so I'm posting. I recently picked up a Springfield 1911 GI. I'm very happy with it, but I'd like to add a beavertail safety and a commander-style hammer. Can anyone make a good recommendation? Thanks!

THere are numerous "drop in" beavertails available, some marketed specifically for the Springfield frame tail shape. However, they will all require that you check fit/function of the trigger blocking arm with the trigger bow before you declare it safe for use. The arm will usually require a small amount of material to be removed.

I'm looking at the Wilson Commander and the Smith & Alexander... both of which are supposed to work. Funnelcake suggested the Wilson, so I may give it a whirl... I like the looks of it best. And since I'm doing the Wislon beavertail, might as well do the hammer. And sear, and trigger.... :D
