Prettiest Pistols

December 21, 2008, 01:40 PM
What do you think are the prettiest pistols? My favourite looks-wise is the 1911 but other real beauties are the Ruger-Luger-Nambu, HS Supermatics, Colt Woodsman-Targetsman-Huntsman, Browning Buck Mark and HP, 9 mm Berettas, SA Bobcat-Sig Sauer P230 SL, Llamas, Taurus, Ruger 90s, Walther P-38, PPK, and TPH, and the Explorer. The unsightly ones are most of the single-shots which aren't very practical anyways.

Here's one single shot that's not ugly!

December 21, 2008, 03:04 PM
Hard to beat any pistol in Royal Blue, IMO.

December 21, 2008, 03:17 PM
rondog, what kind of finish is that? Looks great.

December 21, 2008, 03:22 PM
High Standard Supermatics indeed.
I'll have to cast another vote to Browning Medalists of which I do not own.

December 21, 2008, 03:40 PM
P08 Luger and Sig 232.

December 21, 2008, 03:55 PM
Sig 232 and HK P7M8

December 21, 2008, 04:16 PM

December 21, 2008, 05:58 PM
rondog~Where or how did you get that 1911 finished? NICE!
December 21, 2008, 07:27 PM
Hard to beat any pistol in Royal Blue, IMO.

The OP was asking about pretty pistols. Yours does not fit because it is absolutely stunning, rondog. Please post more pics of this gun because I would like to make it my wallpaper, with your permission of course.

December 21, 2008, 07:34 PM
that royal blue is sweeeeeet

December 21, 2008, 07:59 PM
Rondog, I believe you have unintentionally hijacked this post. Words cannot describe the beauty of that finish. How much time goes in to buffing that sucker after your done handling that one?

December 21, 2008, 08:09 PM

December 21, 2008, 10:53 PM
Uh, sorry all, that's not my pistol, just a photo I saved from another post on another site. I can't recall the owner's name, but I hope he doesn't mind me posting these photos.

AFAIK, that's a Colt WWI repro, the 1st gen. WMK model in Carbonia Blue. It was sent to the Colt Custom Shop for polishing and the Royal Blue finish. That's all I really "know", but I do have more photos. I don't want to hijack the thread, but if the OP wants to see them, I guess y'all could peek over his shoulder.

Oh, I do have this lovely Rock Island GI that I had polished and blued locally, after I put on all the Tactical parts. It's a sweetheart! I've really got to take some more, better photos of it. It really is nicer than the photos I have reflect. Treo just got to see it yesterday, ask him.

December 21, 2008, 11:01 PM
I like the one in rondogs original post, and the walther P99s are nice IMO. Any high grade 1911 (even if they are a few thousand $ too much) looks nice too.

December 21, 2008, 11:04 PM
Some S&W model 41s are beautiful guns

December 21, 2008, 11:28 PM
FWIW, I've always been very partial to the older S&W and Colt revolvers with that deep blue finish. Always thought those were the prettiest, until I discovered 1911's anyway.

December 21, 2008, 11:57 PM

December 22, 2008, 08:57 AM
When it comes to pure aesthetics my vote goes to the Remington XP100 in a custom stock.
Simply gorgeous!

If practicality is brought into the equation the my vote goes to a Belgian Browning.

December 22, 2008, 08:58 AM
Benelli B76

December 22, 2008, 09:54 AM
Sig P210
I sold both of mine in a fit of stupidity and didn't take any pictures beforehand.

Aka Zero
December 22, 2008, 10:46 AM
original CZ-75, not just the pre-b, the old ones.

Hi-Power, because it looks like the CZ.

And any gun polished then blued. Almost kept the worst gun I have ever shot... just because it looked so good. FEG P9R, BHP clone.

December 22, 2008, 12:25 PM

Thats it for me. But a really nice Kimber 1911 is not bad either.

December 22, 2008, 05:33 PM

December 23, 2008, 01:34 AM
I just received my new S&W Model 41 last week and it is the nicest pistol I've owned yet. Can't wait to shoot it.

December 23, 2008, 01:46 AM
nickel-plated model 29

i know it's a revolver, but i can't NOT include it!

anything Hi Point:neener:

December 23, 2008, 11:32 AM
There are so many beautiful handguns out there, but the Browning Hi Power is a perennial favorite.

December 23, 2008, 12:00 PM
bja5006, no matter how some may view it, a revolver is a pistol too.

Your 29 fits in quite well.

December 23, 2008, 12:02 PM
Browning Challenger

December 23, 2008, 12:11 PM
There's always something about an old National Match Colt:

December 23, 2008, 12:15 PM
One man's beauty is another man's bowser, but I've always found it tough to disagree with those folks who think that the Walther PPK, wearing a fine blue coat, is as pretty as it gets in the gun world -- something akin to a lovely woman wearing a simple black dress.

December 23, 2008, 12:18 PM
The Luger is classic. The PPK is a great looking gun. Those Germans sure know how to build a handsome handguns.

December 23, 2008, 03:28 PM

+ 1 for the M&P.

I love these threads because it's just an excuse to post pics of sweet guns! Here is my Colt Commander, which I think is a pretty gun, but I'm also attracted to some H&Ks and Sigs as well. Then again, something about the simplicity of a Glock is sexy to me:)

December 24, 2008, 03:14 AM
the prettiest pistol i've ever seen is a .44 magnum automag and smith357 is right about that xp 100 it's a very lovely handgun..............................

Kind of Blued
December 24, 2008, 04:14 AM
Here are some I've nabbed off of this site over the last year or so.

Somebody here owns this one. I think it's my favorite 1911 ever. Well-loved with marks to prove it, and still a beautiful, utilitarian tool. It looks like an old friend. :)

December 24, 2008, 07:54 AM
S&W 5906

I have yet to find another auto that I like as much. 1911s just arnt my can of mountain dew, I prefer a little more round capacity, and less cost. But dont get me wrong 1911s look pretty stinking amazing.

December 24, 2008, 08:12 AM
I believe this is the nicest looking I own. Para Ordnance Slim Hawg .45 acp,

December 24, 2008, 09:00 AM
Another vote for the Benelli.

December 24, 2008, 09:08 AM
Holy crap rondog! Can we say "Safe Queen":D Thats stunning!!!

December 24, 2008, 09:31 AM
Nice one there Nimble.

December 24, 2008, 09:44 AM
This thing looks like a European sports car to me...

But this has to be my absolute favorite. Black-Stainless.
If only it had bright rosewood grips!

December 29, 2008, 02:08 AM
Great pictures, beautiful guns, I' m very impressed.
I forgot the old Mauser and the flintlock.
I might start a thread for the prettiest revolvers.

A gun is as good or bad as the man using it--Shane.

December 29, 2008, 02:13 AM
Another 1911 vote

December 29, 2008, 02:59 AM
It's kind of funny how perceptions change. There are a lot of votes on here for the 1911, I'm certainly not going to argue with them. It's a good looking gun. What's funny about it is that the 1911 used to be known as "Old Ugly" by many a gun writer.

December 29, 2008, 04:41 AM
I think the 92fs is one of the best looking auto pistols. And for a revolver i've
always thought the S&W 586 looks great !

December 29, 2008, 08:38 AM

Here's my choice.

This old nickle 49 Bodyguard is my "pawn shop save" for $250.00 several years ago.. My wife was with me and saw it first and suggested the old J-frame needed a good home. :)

Gotta love a woman who thinks like that.. And I do.. :D

Best Wishes,

There was always something about a two tone 1911....

December 29, 2008, 09:52 AM
Beretta 951 or the Egyptian clone the Helwan Brigadier

December 30, 2008, 01:54 PM
My vote goes for the Whitney. A lot of people think it's over the top but at least they tried. Most semi-autos look way too utilitarian. When they made this one, they put as much time & effort into form (probably more) as they did with function. Except for the Wolverine, I'm more attached to my revolvers because they're rounder, curvier & more naturally shaped and they generally feel better in hand. I don't like to look at or handle a blocky anything.

Oh yeah: It's the wickedest shooting .22 around. Try one if you get a chance. Never jams, has a trigger to die for and, to boot, it's a monster tack driver. I've owned another one and it shot the same so I don't think it's a fluke.

One I own:

And one I'd like to own, although they only only made 500 so I'm not holding my breath:

December 30, 2008, 02:04 PM
Wow-never knew there was a polished (is that nickel?) wolverine. That thing is beautiful.

<geek> The first thing I though of when I saw it was the Nubian ships in Star Wars 1-3.</geek> I guess spaceship is what they were going for, and they nailed it.

December 30, 2008, 08:52 PM
I do like N frame Smith & Wesson revolvers...

December 31, 2008, 07:09 PM

+1 Dwight.

Just picked one up a couple days ago.

Though I am an absolute sucker for wood and blued steel, I think this is the prettiest one I own:

Followed closely by:

original CZ-75, not just the pre-b, the old ones.

Like this?

My 1977-manufacture short frame 75

My vote is for the Beretta Cheetah.

I agree on them also. I had to have the Inox and wood trim (yes, it's the same BG I used for the Kimber)

January 4, 2009, 08:50 PM
+1 for:

January 4, 2009, 09:04 PM
The Remington 51 with it's Art Deco lines. Rounded and streamlined. Slimmer and sleeker than the Kahrs, the Walther PP, the Colt 1903 or the Sig 232.

This particular one is not mine.

January 4, 2009, 09:19 PM
I'd have to go with the baby Eagle.

January 4, 2009, 10:12 PM

It's bone stock, and will eventually sport some nicer stocks, but I am really smitten with this one right now. I'm sure the newness has a lot to do with it, since I just got this thing, but I sure do like it.
