I want to use my 12 guage pump to start hunting turkey, boar and coyote. It's currently got a 18 1/2 inch barrel, single bead sight and cylinder choke.
I have a chance to buy a barrel with cantelevered scope mount and interchangeable choke tubes. I'm thinking that is a good choice, with a four power fixed power scope.
I would go with a rifle sighted barrel, but my eyes aren't what they used to be.
What do you think about the cantelevered scope mount barrel with a full choke tube?
thanx

Think about a red dot or reflex sight. You don't really want that much magnification.

I know what a red dot is. What's a reflex?

These open sights are usually called "reflex sights", whereas "red dot" usually means a similar sight enclosed in a tube. Technically, I think that a reflex sight and a red dot sight are the same thing, but this is how the terms are usually used.
Anyway, what range are you talking about?

I've encountered this problem myself, I have an older express cantilever scope mount, with the mount being for the standard 1" weaver base scope rings, and most of the red dots I've looked at mount on a rail. Any red dots or holo sights out there fit this mount?

Isn't a rail mount usually compatible with Weaver bases?

Optics designed for Picatinny rails are for the most part, interchangeable on Weaver bases or rails. The only actual differance is the size of the cross-slots.
Some large military optics use this slot for recoil control, and the clamp bolt fits it tightly.
Most don't.

This is the one I was looking at, will it fit?

Yes it will fit either Weaver or Pict.
