My friend and I are looking to hunt some hogs on the cheap. I have approximatley 4-5 days in January to take this adventure. Handgun, rifle, knife--I am game. I am just north of Columbus, OH. I can either hop a flight or make a drive to get where I need to be and can either tent camp, stay at a motel, or at a lodge. I know little about hog hunting, so I may need a guide or someone with experience to assist.

Does anyone know where I can make this happen and what I should expect to spend on the hunt/guide?

I have wanted to do this my whole life! Any info or contacts would be appreciated.

Check these guys out if you are into coming to Texas. I have been out with them several times. Top notch guys. It is knife hunting. There are also a lot of other ads on craigslist in Dallas sporting section then search hunting. I have never used any of the others. I am sure some are gun hunting if thats what you prefer.

I have a friend from Alabama, and its a huge sport down there. I would check some AL craigslists as well. They used to hunt them with pitbulls in the swamp.

This looks good compared to most. I didn't check all the fine print though so you should.

I have known these folks my entire life. They will take good care of you. Know many of their guides as well. Good folks all the way around.

I'd be careful. I haven't hunted there myself, but I've heard enough to keep me away--the fine print is highly toxic, in my opinion.

Any place that advertises a "$1 hog hunt" that really costs about $350 isn't the sort of place I'd do business with. For one thing, it's the only hunting ranch I've ever heard of that requires each hunter to bring two bags of deer corn and also charges a mandatory gratuity (which is something of an oxymoron, of course).

On the other hand, I have hunted at Dos Plumas Ranch, near Abilene, Texas, on several occasions and always had a terrific time (www.dosplumasranch.com); I would recommend them without any hesitation. Feel free to PM me for details and photos of the hogs I've shot there.

Run a local newspaper ad. in the area you r interested in hunting. I'm near Austin Tx. and people are almost begging for someone to come out and help with nuiscence critters

Hey Rooter. There are a lot of outfitters in TX for hogs. Just google TexasBoars and join in on the forums. I'm on there as altez. As for where or which outfitter, it depends on what type of hunting you prefer. For fun primitive hunting, I would suggest hunting hogs with dogs. You can also give feeder hunting a try. But I don't find it challenging sitting there waiting for hogs to come by. Kind of like fishing in a stocked pond to me.

PM for more info if you like.

Try these guys. Back in November me and a buddy of mine hunted hogs with knives. Ran 250 per pig. It was a great time.
