Does anyone know the legal issues of FTF transactions of firearms in WA?

You are good between residents... As long as they are legally able to own a gun.

Ask for his drivers license, and CC permit if they have one. Make sure it's current.

That is a good recommendation, but not a requirement. The only requirement by WA state and Federal law is to have no knowledge or reasonable belief the person is not a resident of the same state or otherwise ineligible to purchase the firearm. There is no burden upon the seller to prove residency or eligibility of the purchaser, only to not have knowledge of ineligibility.

In any FTF transaction it is usually a good idea to write down the drivers license # and other identifying information along with the guns serial number. If they ever come knocking on your door because of a gun trace you can give them all the pertinent information.

B,b,b,but that's just another form of "registration"!:cuss:
When the gun-grabbers come to your door, you're just going to pass the buck onto some other poor soul? How Rude.;)

Of course, anybody that won't produce acceptable ID isn't going to buy any gun I have for sale, whether it has my name associated with it or not.
It's called CYA.
