What is it worth?
I have one that came with a gun that I bought from my friend. And now, he want to buy his scope back.
I'm not sure how much it's worth though.
I bought the scope and the rifle for $300.
Does $150 sound like a fair price?

Also, I thought about taking pictures of it, and will if someone will tell me which part of the scope needs to be photographed for proper identification.

As much as I would like to post a hundred pictures of this scope up here.. there are some logistic issues.. like my angry computer.

btw, the rifle was a Remington 742 Woodsmaster in .30-06
It's obviously used, but it does have a really nice thumb hole stock.

He wants to buy it - but do you want to sell it ?

Selling it to him for $50 would be a fair enough price for him - but then - IF - you want a scope for it, you have to go buy one and you're not likely to get a decent one for $50.

If you want a different scope and don't mind spending a bit more - let him have it for $50-$60. You can get a Nikon Pro-Staff 2x7 for about $120 and that's a good scope and probably a much better match for that rifle.

Personally, I would sell it.

I would sell it as it is an air rifle scope on a 30-06 and that sounds like a bad idea and will probably eventually fail (how much has your friend actually shot with that scope on that rifle?).

The Banner 4-12x40 with AO is usually $99 new, so roughly $50-$65 used.

the Banner is a 'bargain' scope. If he is your Bud, just give it to him.

well, idk
Another friend picked up my gun and looked through it and said that it was probably a $300 scope because it was so clear.
He was obviously wrong.
An air gun scope? ***...

I had a Banner that came stock on a Beeman air rifle, and it screwed up quickly. Actually, it worked pretty well, as long as I didn't want to adjust the magnification.
Turns out Bushnells warranty/service department will allow you to upgrade to a better scope for a VERY reasonable price. I gave the another $180 IIRC, and got a 5-15x40 3200 Elite tactical, with target knobs and mil-dot reticle.I LOVE this scope !!
If I was sitting on a busted Bushnell scope, I'd try the trade-in. Of course, if you're dealing with a good bud.........I guess you gotta be a bro !! ;)

Aren't air gun scopes designed for "backward recoil"?
IF that's true,I wouldn't put a Banner(or even a good scope) on an air rifle.
Oh..Should have added :40-50 bucks sounds fair.

Go look through SWFA for the different lines of bushnell scopes and see that configuration is marketed as an air rifle scope that is "center fire ready" or some nonsense like that. Quite honest it is hard just to look through a modern fully coated scope in broad daylight and be able to tell the difference between a good scope and a budget scope. If you want to put a good scope scope on that rifle for cheap go to SWFA and buy the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 for $200 it is a rebadged Monarch with a BDC reticle at a closeout price. That is the kind of scope that is both cheap and has really good glass you will have to spend hundreds more to beat it and it has a lifetime warranty.

Actually, the Banner IS air-gun rated. The air-gun didn't bust the reticle loose or anything, the magnification ring was stuck from day one. I've read reports from lots of guys here on THR that they actually get great service out of the lowly Banner.
