Looks like I've sold an AK and an AR......

And I'm wondering if around here that makes me an exploitive parasite,a traitor to the cause and a chicken-****** coward, OR prudent, wise, and practical.
Here's the deal, I really feel there's a great chance that Obama Bin Biden will
"hit the ground running", and use the executive order to halt the importation of foreign ammo, guns, kits, etc. Then quicker than anyone anticipated, the Dems may drop a new AW bill on his desk, this time without a sunset or grandfather clause, and he'll do what he thinks he was elected to do, and sign the damned thing.
Maybe it'll get tied up in court, maybe I'm wrong, maybe, maybe ,maybe.
Bottom line......a storm is coming. Or so I think.
Also, I figure I can't lose, because if I'm wrong, the never-materializing threat and the plunging economy will put these things back on the market cheaper than they are now.
Anyway, I liquidated a Romy G at a gunshow few weeks ago, got $200 more than I had in it, and went and bought that stainless Ruger GP100 .357 I've been threatening to get for years. woo hoo !
Now I've decided to let more go. I have a mint condition,low-miles,Colt car-15 that I bought when I was a young sprout stationed at Camp Pendleton 25 years ago, and a Century Yugo underfolder that I got last year, just for the hell of it.
I have a freind ( good freind of my brothers, really) that wants the AR, and is about to kick down the $2000 I'm asking. Before you gasp, I'm tossing in about 300 rounds of Lake City ammo, a $60 tactical sling, 4 mags with pouch, plus assorted add-ons, and it has the original owners manual and receipt. And, for him, it'll be off the books.
The Yugo is also going to a freind of a freind, who just lowballed me down to $800, that's including 3 mags, and 5 boxes of golden tiger, plus the teak foregrips I chased down to replace the original polymers.I think he's getting a deal.
Now keep in mind, I've retained toys enough to repel a sizable horde of zombies, and I'll bury 'em on the powerlines, if I gotta. But I really don't think I need 5 AKs and two AR's and who knows what else  if the gubment decides to make us all felons someday soon. Considering the state of things, and the likely direction, politically and economically,I'd rather put the money in food and silver. But that's me.:D

Well, as long as you were wise enough to keep at least one on hand, it's a case of no harm, no foul. Don't know why you'd think others would cyber-beat you down. They're your tools, do with'em as you like. Go throw'em off a high bridge if ya want. They belong to you.

Looks like a good decision to me since you indicate you have 3 or 4 more AKs and an AR. Your still better equipped than me.
I have 1 AKM and no AR.

Obama hasn't kept his promises to his other "followers", mostly the gay and ultra-liberal crowd who wanted to see fresh faces in the new administration instead of Washington insiders so it is really a toss up on what will happen with a AWB ban. He has a lot on his plate with other matters. He won the election not on an anti-gun/pro AWB platform, but more on the economy (he was on the losing end of the argument for Iraq so the economic downturn saved his hide, IMHO).

I don't think it's bad that you sold those guns. I mean, do you use them at all? If not, they are just paperweights collecting dust. And I'm not of the mindset that I need to be fully stocked with an arsenal to prepare for "doomsday" like some of the folks keep spewing about here. So if selling those guns made you inves tin other toys for you to experience and play with, more power to that.

by the way, what barrel length on the GP100 did you get? I'm about ready to buy one myself, probably in a 4".

I looked at the 4", but it's still a mighty hefty hunk of steel and doesn't really save you any noticable weight or bulk over the more accurate, higher velocity six inch barrel. Get the six, dude !

But, of course, you've already purchased an NRA membership, an AL and/
or VFW membership, stay in touch with your legislators, and always vote
so the powerlines thing is absolutely the last option?

Obama is a true politician through and through. The Dems that swooned over him in the election will be mortified to hear it, but he has changed his tune several times before depending on who he was depending on for votes. He'll be much less radical now that he's representing the whole country. Like all politicians the first thing on his mind is not change, its reelection.

Yeah, TBL, I finally broke down and joined the NRA a couple mainths ago, then I showed up to vote for Huckabee in the Ga. primary, then stood in line forever to vote for Palin in the main election, then returned shortly after to Vote for Saxby Chambless in the senate run-off. All very pro-2nd votes.

its good you kept the ones you really want, but you shouldnt let any political threats make you give up something you like.what i dont like is the idea of it was legal & ok to have, now illegal & you cant have it. its like prohibition back in the 20's.alcohol was around for 5000 years now you want to take it away?i can see another much more restrictive ban & ammo taxes, but i cant imagine it getting to a point of of turning in all assault rifles & semi autos to the police or govt.let them fix the economy & real estate situation, thats more important.any bans or damaging legislation to the firearms industry will cause more unemployment, they better think twice about this one......

Good job, Mil-Dot. Now all we need is the other 90% of gun owners to get
involved.

If you got'em sell'em. I am hoping that Obama will have his hands full and will not have time to worry about us for at least a year to two and by then we can have the opposition ready. If we do not and he is allowed to load the supreme court we are all in dutch for eternity. Start writing the worthless bums now and do not let up on them I say.

Agree with Deckard. Obama is sprinting to the middle and pissing many liberals off by doing so. I do expect some sort of restricting gun legislation but not right off the bat and it may not pass anyway. There are more than a couple Dem congressmen with high NRA ratings.

Looks like I've sold an AK and an AR......

I have no problem with friends owning weapons that I once owned.

I have been thinning my herd and using the proceeds to optimize
the weapons I'm keeping with optics and needed accessories

AGAIN, The dems do NOT, have a strong enough majority to rush through any anti-gun legislation, and their position is not likely to get better in two years. There are plenty of pro-gun democrats, which will make it an iffy vote at best. Having a majority does not equal easy passage of gun laws. They will not waste time starting fights and creating hard feelings BEFORE they get through the major bills they want for health care, economic stimulus, etc.

Don't confuse WANTING new gun laws with the ABILITY to get them passed. Two very different things.

Put that new found paper money into another commodity as soon it will be worthless.

Let's not forget that there are also a lot of Dems that remember what happened to them when they pushed the original AWB through in the 90's.
They thought at the time they were gonna do this thing with the blessing of John and Jane Q. Public. They lost majority in both houses the very next round of elections. The direct result of a very pissed-off American people not standing for their anti RKBA stance.
