I have a 870 12 guage that I am considering an ATI top folding stock for. This particular model has what appears to be a hinged steel butt plate. It looks like stiff self defense loads it would kick to dog stuffing out of my shoulder.

The think I like is that it would reduce the overall package to be so very short. Easy to tote around.

Also, if I go this route I would like to add a ghost ring sight set up. It is not obvious if the ATI top folder will allow a ghost ring rear sight.

Anybody have one of these and care to comment?

I have an ATI top folder on my Winchester 1300. It is made of plastic but servers its purpose well. The recoil is not too bad sense the butt plate is wide. The only thing I do not like of the plastic version is that it is slightly loose when extended.

I've handled them before, I seriously doubt it would stand up to any real amount of shooting.
