I don't have one, only fired one, a Llama, many years ago, but this cartridge has always fascinated me for some obscure reason, and I think it is way underutilized. Any thoughts, other than "Aw, shut yer pie hole!":what:

I think the Super is a great cartridge. Commercial ammo runs mild to potent & the same capability is available rolling your own. I've had good results pushing 125gr. hard-cast LRN at lower-end charges with HS-6.

While my 9mm 1911 is reliable enough, odds are better with the Super since the weapon was designed around a cartridge this length. The Super is available in everything from 1911's, S&W revolvers, to EAA Witness pistols, and a few others I'm sure I forgot or don't know.

I like the Super .38's...don't have a Colt one, but have one RIA (had 3) and one Springfield Armory. They are fun to load for, carry, and shoot!

I like the 38 super a lot myself. I have a SA 1911-A1 in green that's a blast to shoot. Lots of different loads for the round from heavy pin loads to nice light practice loads. A very versatile round in my opinion.

I bought a Witness Match two weeks ago so far so good , I also have a bid in on a Colt on an Auction site.
Who knows !!!
It all started when I bought a whole passel of reloading supplies from the widow of a fellow that passed away. It included about a 1000 new nickel plated
R/P cases in Super and was just the excuse I needed to start up with a new caliber.I also got mucho 220 Swift stuff but that will have to wait till this spring as the local indoor range doesn't like 220 Swift

I like them. I found one at our local gun shop. RIA Nickel in .38 Super for $450.

I might see if I can find one in 9mm. 9mm +p is probably about as potent as the currently underloaded commercial .38 super

I've got one and really like it, just traded some rifle ammo for some +P ammo. Curious to see it work.

Very accurate round, recoils not bad, probably shoot it a lot more than my .45

Was it the cartridge case length that kept it from being as pupular as it should be, or the old headspace issue that gave it the rep of inaccuracy? As I love to handload, this becomes more intriguing.

I ordered a Les Baer .38 on election day. Should be in around the Super Bowl. It will be my second Super, and I'm having a hard time waiting.

No. Not pistols anyway. I just like to shoot them. I picked up the "outdated" Springfield right when a competitor sold it off. It is sweeeeeeeet. :D

I updated the Aimpoint and put the old one on my 9MM AR (http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=89343&d=1229352418).

I put different grips on it and put the Nighthawk grips that came on it on the Colt. Looks better that way, to me anyway.

.38 Super (Super Comp actually- the rimless .38 Super) is huge in the USPSA Open game. They do load it up significantly hotter than most factory loadings in order to make Major power factor.

Always loved the Colt Custom Shop glossy stainless 38 Supers.. but wow are they spendy.

An original from the 30's would be cool too.

Hi-cap Witness can be had on the cheap if you just like the caliber.

All of the Open-Class IPSC shooters I know are running guns chambered in .38 Super. Seems to be a pretty standard choice for Open guns.

I've fired a couple of them, and found the round extremely easy to control.

i've hemmed and hawed over a Ccolt "Bright Stainless" .38 Super because I once had a Python that was bright stainless and a real pain to keep it looking good.

But the RIA nickel plate looks like a near perfect plating job and I know that nickel is easier to live with. So are nickelplated RIA pistols still available?

'Cause I think I NEED one...

"Use to see alot of the 1911 38supers south of the border"

Yeah, still do. Something about the laws not letting people own any bigger calibers.

Aw, shut your piehole! :D Seriously, I've always wanted a .38 super or 9x23 pistol, but I haven't bitten just yet. Probably would have by now on one of the Tanfoglio versions, were it not for the terrible reputation of EAA customer service.

THe only Super experience that I have:

Winchester Silvertips out of a STAR in 9mm Largo that
shot the .38 Super just fine.

I had a blued Colt 1911 in .38 Super once. Decent gun, fine caliber. Still have more than a thousand rounds sitting around. I hope the @#$! who stole it shot himself with it.

After I win the lottery I'm going to get another one; engraved and nickel plated with Mexican eagles carved into ivory grips. I'm not one for pimp guns but that's a classic version...

That is because civilians are barred there from owning anything chambered in a "military" cartridge. So some of the less common calibers are popular.

I have 2 guns in 38 Super. A Rock Island GI and a Taurus PT38. I really like the round. Not being a reloader I haven't yet seen it's true potential though.

The Super .38 is one of my all-time favorites. It's been too long since I had one, but hopefully that will change eventually. My nicest set-up was a Colt Combat Commander with an extra 9mm. barrel and magazine. Surprisingly enough, the gun shot pretty much to the same POI in both calibers.

yes, I love the super. My favorite part is the indignant responces you get from 357sig fans when you say it(357 sig) reinvented the wheel.
I currently have 2 a Kimber Stainless Target and Taurus PT38S.
Woofersinc when you do reload get some Hodgdon Longshot it makes supers purr.
