I am on the phone with a company and they want 14 bucks for a 20 round magazine and i thought that these magazines were dirt cheap. Is 14 bucks a okay price for these magazines since the election or can i do better?

You can get them for about $2 apiece. Try Dans Ammo or Copes.

RTG Parts (http://www.robertrtg.com/g3magazines.html) has used HK91 mags for $3.50, or 10 for $20, or a whole box of 104 beater mags for $89. I've bought form these guys before, and they're a good company.

I have looked for about an hour and called 7 stores that currently have PTR-91 magazines and nobody has the 30 round mag. Does anyone know where I can find these 30 round magazines?

How about thirty six dollars for twelve 20rd magazines (https://www.mainemilitary.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=174&idproduct=2281)?

30 Round Magazine (http://www.mwgco.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?page=MWG/PROD/NATIONAL_MAGAZINES/NMI-HK91-30RBP)

Another one from Cheaper Than Dirt (http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/MAG307-36.html)

Crash, I suspect you've been searching for "PTR-91 magazines" or "PTR-91 accessories." Don't do that - just search for HK91 parts. The rifle is for all intents and purposes an HK91 and all the parts are interchangeable.

I think it was 3-4 years ago when used aluminum dropped to .99 for a few months.

Hell, PTR91.com sells used G3 mags for ~$2-$3 a peice depending on quanity.

Stick with the surplus 20 rounders, I've read the 30 rounders are no where near as reliable/durable.

The HK mags are going up remarkably. Grab some of these offers while you can. The 30 round mags suck. Forget them. There's also an outrageously priced drum. Weighs a freakin ton, is priced like it's solid gold. Get 20rnd mags by the dozen and be happy (on a budget).

I'll trust you guys that the 30 round magazines are crap, since I've never actually used one, but why is this? How hard can it be to screw up a magazine?

It's fairly easy to screw up an aftermarket mag (given my experience w/
various types over the years). In the case of these 30 rd'ers, I had a
friend who bought a couple for a real HK91 and neither fed right. No a
big sample size, but a small real sample.

Aftermarket mag problems off the top of my head: angled wrong usually
due to mag body being too small or other dimensions being completely off
from the start, notch cut in wrong place, notch cut too big/too small, soft
feed lips that spread or snap off, spring way too weak/strong to feed the
rds properly.

My absolute favorites are the handgun mags which are too fat to actually
slide into the grip or too short and the bottom plate keeps it from going all
the way up and locking in.

And let's not forget the potential for mag follower problems....
