Maybe we could convince MCA Sports (http://www.mcace.com/adapters.htm) to make a Chamber Adapter?

They do make an adapter, they just call it 30 mauser instead of 7.62x25tok. These two rrounds are pretty much the same in a similar manner of 5.56x45vs.223 or 7.62x51vs308

but stick one of these in a rifle at your own risk! Many times they won't come out.

Saw some guy on AK47.net that was trying to put together an AK-pattern in that caliber. I don't know if anything came of it, but it wasn't going to be mass produced in any event.

Might get Bullberry to whip you up a Contender barrel in that caliber.

Also keep in mind all that cheap, cheap 7.62 surplus is corrosive and probably not even close to match grade.

I used to think I wanted a PPS43, but found out that (for me) rifles chambered for rimless pistol calibers aren't as much fun unless they have the happy switch (i.e. full auto). That's out of my price range, so I'll stick to my TT33.

I have all the bits to make an AK in Tok, and hopefully will get it build by spring. If you look around the homebrew sections of various gun boards you can find a number of people who have made them.

I've also toyed with the idea of converting a .32-20 lever action to Tokarev...I haven't taken a close look at the internals (and I know little about lever guns in general), but if I find a good deal on a .30-20 with a ruined barrel I'll definitely buy it up to experiment with.

I just emailed the guy from MCA adapters asking him if he could make a 7.62x25 to 7.62x39 adapter. Rossi makes a nice little single shot 7.62x39...I think this might be a interesting combo! Or maybe this http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/351/products_id/89106 and and the .30 mauser to .308 adapter.

id want a repeater of some type though, bolt action may do it. lever would be cool. i wouldnt want to break open every shot.

If you go the chamber adapter route, you need to reload it every shot so its not a big deal.

i wonder if a 32-20 lever rifle could be re-chambered for the tokarev?

It seems close enough dimensionally.

i dont see why they didnt make rifles in this caliber, the ammos 10cents a round. and powerful. and loud.

id love a camp carbine type thing that takes tt33 mags

Oh, yeah!

I have CZ52, so I have the ammo and reload for it already - no sweat. I could use a Marlin CampTok (or... would it be a GulagTok? :p) and you could use the CZ52 mag and make high cap mags and even drums.. why not? Or have it setup to take a PPSh drum! Oh, man, I'm getting excited.

Yeah, the round is a hot one, and lots of fun. Let's see, a Contender barrel, a Ruger with rotary six round (?) mag, maybe even a little Bullpup configuration so you could shoot it from your truck (I know, I mean where it's LEGAL :scrutiny:).

Make sure the bores are true .308 for us handloaders. And chrome line the bore and some of the action (or do stainless) for those who shoot that nasty corrosive :barf: Commie ammo.

I dunno about the levergun - I have a 92 in .357, so no need there... but I would certainly make room for a long gun in Tok. I miss my Spanish Destroyer - and this would be a perfect replacement in bolt action.

Count me in, I want one!

I think I found the perfect combo! I went to my local gander mountain to grab some 12ga slugs and found a rossi .308 single shot for $149. Toss in a mca .30 mauser to .308 adapter for $22 and you have a sub $175 7.62x25 carbine! I dont have a caliper...can someone measure the diameter of romanian and bulgarian tok ammo?

so any .308 can fire 762 tok ? but it would be single shot only?

k9870
December 31, 2008, 03:01 PM
and is it the same exact bore? or will you get crappy accuracy like when firing 8mmjs through a regular 8mm?

Yes and yes

and is it the same exact bore?

.308 and 30-06 =.308 and 7.62=.309

I do not believe that .001" will make that much of a difference...but I will defer to someone more knowledgeable on this subject!

whilst you most assuredly won't have to worry about an exploding barrel you can absolutely bank on mediocre accuracy from the third world corrosive communist ammo you cite at the beginning of this thread. I like 7.62x25 and have had several handguns so chambered but I won't bother with that garbage

I would be happy if I could get 3" groups at 100yards with it!

So can anyone give any input about shooting a .309 fmj bullet in a .308 barrel??? I worry about the potential of it getting stuck...but it SHOULD be moving fast enough (1500-1800fps).

you'll be fine in that respect. The tolerance of variation for barrels even on new guns and ammunition is more than .001

is there a way to rechamber a repeater instead of break action singles

yeah, install a new barrel.

7.72x25 is so much smaller than anything else a .3caliber rifle would be chambered in that the barrel could not be set back far enough to clean up the old chamber with a x25reamer.

In other words You'd spend $1000 on a rifle so you could shoot the crappiest ammo in the world. You know 9mm is cheap too but they make rifle's for that.
