280shooter, The East German Mak is the top of the line as Makarovs go. A lot of parts came with the Mak to the U.S., hold out for a EG Mak, going price is about $300.00 to $375. Go to Gunboards fourms and check out the Makarov forum, a lot of good info on the Maks there. orchidhunter

Im going to check some local gun shows in the area,
I went to one 3 years ago. some venders had cases of Macs,I had the money I should have bought 2 of them, they were really nice handguns.not sure what company, but they were really nice,,no machine marks on the outside.just super, clean,

Yes, the East German Maks are tops. I have a Russian Mak, complete with adjustable rear sight (to make points at import), and it has run flawlessly for ten years.

The .380 and 9x18 magazines are the same; the barrels are interchangeable with difficulty. I chose the .380 for compatibility with other firearms I have; as a reloader, I avoid introducing new calibers to my arsenal when possible.

The Makarov is a sturdy and reliable pistol, and it's easy and fun to shoot. On the downside, it's a bit heavy and bulky by contemporary standards.

I'm glad I have one, and if it were lost or stolen, I'd buy another - in .380.

Years back I bought a FEG, its from hungary 9MM short.its a R61,its a nice piece.some rust pit.but for a service side arm,its not bad,I never seen these for sale.when i did buy this one,A friend of mine had a ffl.and I would go over the shotgun news with a fine tooth comb, and I came across these little hand guns, one was the r63 and r61, the 61 was just a tad bigger, they sold them with 2 clips.maybe a holster and cleaning kits.maybe abrush was the cleaning kit,,I didnt need the cleaning kit I wanted the smaller gun, so i ordered it.I waited and waited and waited,no gun, they cashed my check, but no gun,so i called them, they game me all the himhaws,,but they said,,how about if we send you the gun you want and we'll tose in the extra clip and a nice box,,,
Fine,,just send me the gun I want,,yeahoooo.. a week later,i received the little gun,with the 2 clips.
I called back wanting another,,Nope they dont have anymore and they have no idea when, they will have more.,,oh well...my slide has the importer stamped right on it.

do the Macs have the importer stamped on these handguns,,?

The price for Maks with out the import stamps, goes up. These are the ones to look for, from any country of origin. The Ruskys go for about $500.00 with out the import stamp. orchidhunter
