How well will masonite siding hold up on an elevated [10ft high] shoot house. Since the siding will not be in contact with the ground, will it absorb moisture?? I found a good deal on 4x8 sheets due to some forklift damage. Would a good coat of paint also help in the longevity of it?? Thanks fo all input and info!!!!!

Are you sure it's Masonite? I'm not sure anyone actually makes masonite any more. If you've got Masonite, all edge/joints need to be caulked and the surface sould be painted. (I'd prime the backside too)
If you're talking about HardiPlank, or Hardi board, that is made with cement products. It is extremely durable if installed correctly. Caulk the joints, Paint it, and forget it.

Don't get me started on the 'shootin house' thingy.. This shouldn't even be allowed in the 'Hunting' forum.

What's a "shooting house", a blind? I always thought that's where you trained for house clearing duty in the army or police or something.

We call an elevated box blind a shoot house. Usually a 4x4 or 4x6 with windows for shooting. Usually overlooking a green field or other food source. GREAT if you have yunguns that want to hunt with you!! I can see the confusion now. Sorry.

Basically, in Texas, a stand. They sell 'em at Academy here, 4x6 or so, sliding plexiglass windows, kinda high, though, 'bout $1100 for the set up.. I'd thought about building one, platform is the hardest part. Seen 'em built out of rebar. I've hunted out of 'em built out of scaffolding, too. I have a couple of 10 foot tripods, but it's awful cold in a north wind. I'd like to build one and heat it with a propane catalytic heater.
Fancy stands are popular in Texas. I'm gettin' old, got nothing against comfort. :D
But, here's what ya need:
