I've been looking into getting a h&k p7 when I discover there is more then one variation! Which one do you think is the best?

Right now the best deal going is the Police trade P7s sold by CDNN. I'd start there before investing the big bucks for any other model. You may discover, as some do, that you don't like the "Claymore Clacker" gun. ;)

I voted for the PSP. I bought one from CDNN and I LOVE it. It is a brilliant shooter.

some of those are impossible to get (p7m7s are prototypes only)

some are rare (only a few hundred psps)

of the ones you can get (p7,p7m8,p7m13,p7m10,p7k3) my favorite is the p7. these are available for $500-600 right now.

(Why would I want one of those?)

The Smith & Wesson M&P line haunts my dreams. H&K's are well very well made and I've liked the ones I've owned, but S&W hit a home run on the M&P line... I suppose that's why I'm on my 3rd in a collection of M&P's.

gglass - your post has nothing to do with his question.

FWIW:

CDNN is selling quality surplus HK P7's for $500.. I recommend you jump on one of these because the price is great, and it will get you "into" the P7 line relatively painlessly, and then you can decide whether or not the pistol design is to your liking.

FWIW, the HK P7 is the most accurate pistol I've ever owned.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

How accurate is the P7? I am thinking about one of these. They just look cool to me.I have the CZ 75B and 97B 45acp which are very accurate and have heard the new Witness Elite is super accurate as well.Just curious how the P7 would stack agaisnt these and the Glock and Sig I did have?I also figure it will only go up in value since you do not see many of them?
Thanks

How accurate is the P7?

The P7 is very accurate because it has a 4.13" fixed barrel and a crisp single-action trigger.

P.S. Here's a photo of the first rounds fired through my first surplus Lower Saxony Police HK P7 purchased from CDNN.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a73/Laserlips/100_8654.jpg

I was only shooting from 7 yards, two hands, and I braced against the frame of my wife's golf cart.. I had never fired a "squeezecocker" before, and I was just trying to determine the poa/poi..

I'm a senior citizen with shaky hands and less than perfect vision, and I'm just an average marksman. I should think a better marksman could blow the X ring out of the target.

I have three of these "A" grade P7's and they all shoot the same.

Getcha' one...

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Had always heard good things about the P7 series. Got to try a rental at a range a couple decades ago and wasn't too thrilled, but was heavily into single action revolver phase at the time and didn't much like the handling of ANY bottom feeders.

Years went by. Got back into autoloaders. Got carry permit. Started carrying a Kimber, a Taurus, then a Kahr and went through several models of Glock, looking for the "right" pistol for me. Read both volumes of "Gargantuan Gunsite Gossip" and noticed the number of times Chairman Jeff spoke well of the P7, always w. caveats due to it not being available in .45 Stumbled across one of the German police trade-in PSPs and took a chance on buying it. Went to the range, bought another ASAP. Carried for some months while forming opinions about their features vs other models. Sought and got the opportunity to handle P7M8, P7M13 and P7M10 ("The Brick"). Sold Tupperware, plowed money into P7M13 (personally find its' extra capacity to be reassuring and my hands are big enough to not mind the difference in grip) w. Trijicons and Tripp's refinish. Can't imagine going backward to anything else for carry.
