there is a hard leather gun case on ebay that is supposed to be for a belgium browning sweet 16. take a look, does anybody know if this was a factory option of some kind?i am more curious than anything. i am sure if it is, the price will go way beyond what i could afford. but if it is a special peice, at least i can save the photo's.

It does look like any Browning item I am familiar with. Also, the "Sweet" version of the A-5 16 gauge was not produced until the late 30's, and the early ones were not marked "Sweet". I'd say it's an aftermarket item.

What would make the case only for a "sweet 16"? The ad did not show any markings on the case that say anything specifically about 16 ga. Just from the photos and information I see in the ad it might work for another gauge as well. The case would probably make a good addition to an old keepsake gun for sure!

I have a browning Belgium sweet 16 i think the date is from like 1944 or something close.
I've never seen the hard cases.

Not a "sweet sixteen" case, but a browning hogleg case for any sxs, o/u or A5. It may have been specifically ordered for a particular gun, but with no providence nobody can tell. As mentioned above, there were no "sweet" guns until '32 or '33

but a browning hogleg case for any sxs, o/u or A5.If it doesn't say Browning on it, it could be for any gun that comes apart in two pieces.
My guess is that it is just a generic leather hardcase that happened to have a Browning Sweet-16 in it once upon a time.
But regardless of that. The thing is approaching 90 years old.
Other then as a conversation piece, it is doubtful the old hard leather would withstand any actual use without cracking and coming apart.
