Hope someone can help. Tried my 870 today for the first time, and being a left-hander, I found I was turning on the safety catch as I fired, meaning I couldnt take a second shot :(

I'm sure I've read of a way to move the safety catch so it pushes through from the other way, can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Many thanks :)

Thanks for the link mate, but mine is a 1970's model, I was under the impression they could be reversed, is that not right?

By the way, no reflection on your good self, but you have to smile at that web page :)

First line - Gunsmith installation is recommended.

Fifth line - Does not require gunsmithing or fitting for installation

Heheh :D

There is a Midway UK so I expect I'll be able to buy one of those if I have to, so cheers :)

Take it apart and try to reverse it, if it goes then good if not then no.

I was kinda hoping for any info on how to take it apart too, maybe even a diagram :)

Here is a step by step to install one of the Jumbo safeties-- it should apply to you as well.

You drive out the retaining pin without letting the spring go flying into orbit. Flip trigger plate and catch the little silver ball. Push out the safety button and turn it around. Drop the silver ball back in the hole. Put in the spring, insert the retaining pin to hold it, and push/tap it back flush.
