Has anyone noticed the Ruger web site shows that all models of the Old Army have been discontinued? Guess I put off getting a new one too long - and thats sad!

Yep, they have been discontinued. If you want one you can still pick them up used, heck look around and you might find one new.

Check the classifieds over on SASS.You have to be a member to sell [$35.00] but you pay nothing for the right to buy.

The ROA was discontinued back in April of last year. Ruger says they can make a better return on their investment on tooling and labor by utilizing their production lines on other models.

There are several on gunbroker all the time, new, used, blued or stainless. Some of the asking prices are kind of high. I screwed up when I sold my old blued model several years back. Just picked up a used stainless with out the bill board script on the barrel. Paid more than I should have, but I don't see them getting cheaper. IF there is an weapons ban in the future I think a lot of people well move to BP shooting.

I bought a 1993 Stainless Ruger Old Army with white grips this summer. It was NIB but with a overtightened grip crack. After about a dozen firings the latch fell off the bottom of the barrel. I sent it back to Ruger and instead of soldering it back on they replaced the barrel and give me a new set of grips at no cost. It took two months to get it back but that was pretty darn decent of them to have done that. And what a weapon it is! Not period correct but dependable, accurate, and cleans easy. Terrible balance though!

Gone are the good old days only a couple years ago when I bought my last one in very good used condition for $350. Glad I did, will probably never sell it. If you can find one under $500 these days in like new condition, jump on it. They are very well built and no more are coming.

They're a serious pain to find with fixed sights, as that's the flavor the SASS shooters use. The adjustables are still pretty common.

I don't feel so bad about $400 I just paid for my stainless ROA. Most I see listed are in the $475-525 range.

I have been looking for a stainless with adjustable sights for a while now and everyone is out of them. Does anyone know of a store with one and if it is your local shop can I get the phone number please? Thanks.

I missed the last one at The Gun Works by 10 minutes :(

I have it on good hand that he will produce a certain amount of them each year. That's not cast in stone but someone at Lacy Place told me they ARE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING IT....

I've lusted after a Ruger Old Army 5 1/2" barrel in stainless since they came out. I kept putting it off and now they quit making them there are none to be had....shame on me for waiting.
Like my dad told me..."I can always get more money, I can't ever get more time."
