I have a Remignton 1100 just sitting in my closet that I haven't shot in years. I was thinking about selling it, but I'm not sure what is the best way to go about it (to get a fair price). In all my years of buying guns, I've never sold one before. Obviously, just taking it to a gun shop would get me a ridiculously low offer, so selling to an individual seems best. But how to find a buyer? Newspaper add? Go stroll around the next gun show with a "for sale" sign strapped to it?

Also, what's the best way to figure out what would be a fair price for the gun?

You could post it on here and it would probably sell. As far as finding a good price, find someone with a bluebook or go to gunbroker.com

Is there a particular area for selling? I didn't want to make a "for sale" post if it would violate forum rules or otherwise tick off the Mods.

List it here on THR in the proper forum section. Read the rules well before you list it.

Also you can list it on one of the Auction sites: GUNBROKER, AUCTION ARMS, GUNSAMERICA. You can find some that are similar to yours on one of these sites and see how much they are listed for. Post a picture here, give some info on it and the THR members can tell what it is worth.

Be aware that is considered an Assault Weapon in Ban states (9 capacity + pistol grip) so be careful where you ship it. Here are some gunbroker links for reference. Also you can ship the shotgun yourself as long as it goes to an FFL:

I think Gunbroker would be your best bet to get the best price especially since it has been "blackened", though I must say that is a pretty long tactical shotty but someone will take a shining to it I'm sure.

I have all the original parts, so I'll probably put it back into the stock configuration before selling it. That way I don't have to worry about ban issues.

It's definitely long for a "tactical shotty," but that's not really what I was going for. The pistol grip is just much more comfortable to me, and the extended bolt handle is easier to use. The extended mag tube just makes shooting more fun due to less frequent reloads. This has just been a "fun gun," so it's never been bashed around in the field. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably get it posted on Gunbroker soon.
