All the big players RCBS, Redding, etc. do sell individual neck sizing dies.

If you just want to play around with neck sizing, you only need to back off your FL die a 1/2 to a full turn, until there is no longer shoulder contact.

Case body taper being what it is, there will be very little if any body sizing with the FL die backed off that much.

280shooter,

Start with the die backed out all the way and slowly tun it in while watching the "ring" on the case neck, you can see it as it moves down the neck to the shoulder. I set mine to stop just above the shoulder.

+1 for what dagger dog says. I use the same method and it works well for me.

None of my FL dies for any of the 5 rifle cartrides I load for will work as a neck sizer only and NOT contact the case on the webbing. I end up with a case with a reduced neck that is longer than when I started. The compression on the case body has to cause a reaction and that reaction is lengthing the case and moving the shoulder forward. People do it but it is not good practice. Buy a neck die. Look at Lock Stock & Barrel if you are having trouble finding just the neck die. They have them in stock for most cartridges. The Lee Collet Neck Die is superb as is the Redding Neck Die. The more elaborate neck dies are the bushing type but if you are not a competition bench rest shooter you will not extract the benefit of the cost.

I've been using a Lee collet die for my 30.06 for years, and have been extremely pleased with it.

I have been buying the Lee deluxe rifle die sets: .223, .22-250, .270, 7mm Mag. They come with FL, and neck sizer dies. You can buy them individually.

I had my brother mail me an RCBS X-die (neck sizer) for his 8x57JS. I really like this die. He had the RCBS FL and seater dies already.
