I have mixed feelings. It's true he's getting paid to do nothing, but it's also true that at least we can be sure he isn't doing any harm either. I am starting to think the US would be better off if we replaced our elected representatives with potted plants... the plastic kind, so they wouldn't need to be watered.

I'd be delighted if our Ambulance-Chasing Barbie Doll started a trend among liberal Senators: let 'em ALL miss roll-calls that would infringe on our liberties.

{"Ambulance-Chasing Barbie Doll" is (c) 2001 by Happy Bob; permission to use this term is FREELY GIVEN to all who support human rights. Gun Grabbers will be sued for infringement! :neener:}

I think it's reprehensible that he is ignoring the office he holds now in his efforts to secure another one. That said, are there any grounds that he can be impeached on? If there are no rules governing attendance I don't like the idea of conjuring up a reason to impeach someone. That sets a bad precedent. If he had more integrity he would either resign or make sure that he was there for even half of the Senate votes. My $2*10^-2...

He just a good-looking Gephartian blowhard. Yes, he should be impeached for not doing his job, and be forced to return the salary with interest.

Hey! Edwards is my senatorial barbie doll. Lay off.

His pathetic record is right in line with that of Lieberman, Graham, and Kerry.

Edwards should have never been elected but that is another thread.

"No man's property or liberty is safe while the legislature is in session."

As a matter of moral principle, yes he should be tossed. As a matter of what is practical under our current situation, he's untouchable. So leave him alone - he's doing less harm this way.

I would see a politician impeached for almost anything. Still, there are many, many worse things a politician can do than not pass laws... ;)

Any time a leftist extremist misses a vote, the nation is a little safer.

Potted plants, indeed! That's an excellent suggestion!

Potted plants? You mean like those city council members in Berkely?

Voted no, because he can't be impeached. There's no provision for it in the Constitution.

His expulsion from the Senate wouldn't offend me terribly, although I think it's really up to the people of NC whether he stays or goes.

In another blurb, it was stated that this rate of absenteeism is not unusual, esp among those running for the White House. Reckon if Lieberman or Kerry have any better record? Doubt it.

We can only hope their record is as bad, or worse! That would be A GOOD Thing!
