Side note, this ended up on fark under the "amusing" tag. What is amusing about somebody accidentally being shot? Also, an assault charge? seriously?

Duck, duck, d'oh!
Two Long Island hunters were sitting in this bizarre floating duck blind early yesterday when one of the men accidentally shot his partner in the arm, state officers said.
The urban Elmer Fudds were tracking ducks in their hay-covered boat near Point Lookout, when one of the hunters, Ricardo Carter, 50, allegedly opened fire, hitting his pal in the arm and hand, police said.
The injured sportsman, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center for treatment.
Carter, of Brentwood, was charged with reckless endangerment and assault, cops said.

If they were tracking ducks, I wonder what kind of "sign" they were following. Perhaps a few floating feathers or a water trail.
For there to be an arrest, there had to be somne other facts involved, surely.

It also appears that the NY Post doesn't like responsible journalism (and hasn't ever as far as I know).
Will the use the same humorous tone the next time a NY Shop owner is killed by a mugger because they can't legally own a gun to defend themselves? Also I like that it took two people to write this article... maybe each had a quarter of a brain and combined it added up to half of one?

a quarter times a quarter is only a sixteenth... seems about right, here.

Let's face it, if you were born and bred in the big city it's not unlikely Elmer Fudd taught you everything you know about hunting --
Just like the Godfather and Serpico taught me everything I know about New York.

Don't forget Hill Street Blues, Law & Order, Seinfeld, & Friends. :) But good point. Still, they are using it obviously as a barb at sportsmen. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye or arm, then then to the NYP, it's still fun and games.

"Bizarre floating duck blind?"
Yup...pretty bizarre. Just like every other duck blind I've ever seen.
Next up, an article about a taxi driver in his "Bizarre metal conveyance."
And one about a new shop that serves a "Bizarre drink made from roasted beans."
I've heard that New Yorkers have taken to wearing "Bizarre, two-legged cloth garments, secured in a HIGHLY out-of-the-ordinary way by a strip of leather with a metal buckle.:
And that the NY Post has chosen to publish stories written from the "Bizarre" points of view of authors who didn't know what the *%&K they were talking about!

Not being snide here, but exactly what subject do the authors know ANYTHING about? We are talking about the post here!

Sauces -- I actually liked Hill Street Blues. It was based on Pittsburgh, not NY, the Hill District is the tough neighborhood east of the Triangle and north of the universities, more or less. Steven Bochco went to college in Pittsburgh. Nice place, I used to live there.
Comparing Pittsburgh to New York is fighting words in Pittsburgh! :-)

Reckless endangerment? Assault?
If it was an accident, it was an accident. The phrasing by the authors clearly suggest they have no idea what they are writing about.
I wonder how bizarre they consider the everyday activities of the foot soldier in Iraq? Or efforts by homeland security to ensure their safety?
Ladies, go home. Stick to writing about something you at least know something about.

i love how it's so humorous that some "elmer fudd" was injured in his bizzare contraption....but if they write about an accidental discharge in someone's house it's a tragedy.(not to mention a good opportunity to throw in some gun control nonsense)
