Tried Out an FN PS90, WOW!

Person next to me was shooting this gun, a bullpup design. Talked to him about it and was invited to try it.
I initially declined because of the usual lefty/bullpup problems, but he said no problem, it ejects from the bottom, cool!
You hold the trigger hand normally, but the front hand also goes into a hole in the stock and supports it.
Recoil? Almost non existant, the 5.57x28 cartridge's recoil is just about completely absorbed. Even in rapid fire, the barrel barely moves. Also not very loud, he was also shooting .38Spl +Ps which were much louder.
Came with a non-magnifying optical sight, very accurate.
It looks like the Secret Service also likes them, one site I looked at says they're using them.
The only thing was the price, like about $1500, which would be a deal breaker for me.
Over all I liked it, so if anyone is giving one away, please let me know. ;>)

They are neat little guns. My kid thinks it's the greatest thing ever.
Prices must have gone up, I didn't pay that much for mine.
The ones the Secret Service uses are short barreled and full auto by the way, P90 it's called.

They are a sweet-sweet rifle and quite accurate. About same price as a good AR 15.

If you think the gun's expensive, wait until you price the ammo :D

Yes, the ammo is SO expensive, about... oh, the same price as factory .223, except match-grade and it holds the warantee on the rifle.

Wow, did some pricing on ammo. Looks like 223/5.56 is nearing $.50/rd for the brass stuff. Wolf is still around $.25 each.
5.7x28 is $425/1000. Ouch.

search around a bit. 5.7 comes in 2000 round cases so someone is splitting that case up. pre-election, I've bought them from $640-740 per case of 2000
nothing about the PS90 or P90 or USG or IOM etc is match grade, so why would their ammo be? It's not advertised as match grade. Or do you mean just because the ss197 stuff has a ballistic tip?
around here, the guns are in stock everywhere and run $1700-1900.

if you can find a new PS90 for $1500...its a bargin. FN upped their prices on alof of stuff mid-08. Dealer price is over $1500 with a suggested retail of $2195.
still, its far and above my favorite gun of all time.

As if the .223 round was not already underpowered enough. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd7/rkba2da/smileys/smiley_freak.gif

Its not "underpowered"; it's "ballistically challenged"

It would be the perfect gun to make a SBR, it was designed that way.

Ammo costs vary, depending on where you look.
CMMG has a 2000 round case on sale for $400,000 and $10,000 a box

I have ammo here (SC KY) for $20 per 50rd of FN 40gr vmax ammo. Quite a bit better than the .223 ammo, coming in at $10 more per 50.....and that is junk stuff, for vmax ammo.....three times as much.
I would love a PS90 (preferbly a P90, dang that 1986 law) but they don't sell them around here. Just Five seveNs.:(
