Does anyone have any experience with Kimber rifles?
Are they a good buy, overpriced, etc...?
Also what can be said about the 22-250 round?

Thanks!

Kimber rifles have always had an excellent reputation. I guess the prices reflect the amount of hand-finishing that goes into them.

The venerable .22-250, starting out as a wildcat in the 1930s, has been noted for versatility and accuracy. In commonly-available factory loadings it's second only to the .220 Swift for velocity. With today's wide range of bullet weights, you must choose a twist rate in accord with what you intend to hunt. Slower twist, for the lighter varmint bullets under 60 grains; faster twist for the heavier bullets. Regardless, no reason not to expect 1/2 MOA for three- or five-shot groups.

I'd prefer it for varmints over deer, given the possiblity of a bad hit not being adequate to bring down the deer and having Bambi escape to die elsewhere. (I'm definitely on the conservative side, there.) But I'd call it ruinacious on coyotes.

I bought a Kimber 84M Varmint about two years ago. Very nice rifle. I had a problem witht he bolt when the firing pin broke and they fixed it with no questions, short turn around too.

Have had no problems since. Wonderful gun, nice trigger, very nice finish, gorgeous wood. I heartily endorse Kimber rifles.
