This has been going on all day. Earlier this afternoon, 40 of the 58 county GOP chairmen endorsed Schwarzenegger. I've heard since that now all of them have. I've also heard that Issa has endorsed Schwarzenegger, but haven't checked to confirm. The call for McClintock to get out of the race is getting louder and louder.

Nobody ever said doing the right thing is always easy or politically expedient; it is, however, always the right thing to do.

I admire McClintock for staying in.

The GOP may lose, but what are they losing really?

He has enough support to threaten Arnold and I think Boostyourmoney will probably get it because of the split.

I think Arnold would be an interesting gov, and I think McClintock would be a highly principled gov, but I am not sure either of them could really get a lot done.

Arnold is probably better at going direct to the people with a simplified message that people can grasp.

McClintock is always going to take the analytical approach - he will always be right, but he is almost too smart for his own good - I think a lot of people just dont get him.

Man it feels good to be safe in Texas :)

Ya know...
So what if Simon and these county hacks back Arnold.
These are the same idiots who screwed up the Republican party in the 1st place.
The recall is a grassroots drive and I'm hoping the same grassroots folks will say to hell with the republican machine and vote for McClintock
I will.

McClintock is clearly the better Republican candidate, but lets face it, he CANNOT win this election. You don't endorse the guy with no chance if you have someone you at least agree with partly that has a real shot at winning. Half of the people or more that are voting for Arnold are doing it for name and image, and for his "moderate" status, and would note be voting for McClintock. Arnold is very likely pulling alot of non-hardline Democrat votes. McClintock would get squat from Arnold dropping out.

Arnold may not be the best candidate for true conservatives/libertarians, no doubt about it plainly he is not. But from the gun owners perspective he is worlds better than any of the Dems. You've heard it before... Davis has and continues to push for gun control openly, happily signing it and lobbying for it. Arnold may say he supports a ban on assault weapons but I would be extremely surprised if he stood up there with fineswine lobbying for it like Davis just did, I doubt Arnold would be up there jockeying for the newest handgun bill they just now passed, etc. Arnold would be a great step for Kalifornia. McClintock is very nearly going to be singlehandedly responsible for the status-quo being continuted with Booze-amante. Sure he's keeping his word by not dropping out "before the finish line", but he was a jackass for ever making that promise. Unless of course he considers the finish line something other than the actual election... I would argue if the day before the election he still has virtually no chance of winning that's pretty much a valid finishline, time to bow out...

If you'll "never back a quasi-conservative" what the heck are you going to do, vote for the ultra-lib? In a Bush vs Hillary Clinton election you'll vote for Hillary? I mean come on, you have to be realistic here... You can feel all great about your powerful "statement" of voting for the basically no-name other party, but you might as well not be voting at all if that's the case... Like it or not, and I KNOW I don't, that's how it is...

If you want the status-quo to continue so they can run Kalifornia into the ground completely and hopefully people will wake up, that's one thing... I'd almost agree with that idea. The way this crap goes the people will never wake up though, or they'll manage to finally pull the budget out of the toilet but gun owners will still be getting raped, etc...

What a bunch of utter morons. The lets elect a republican, if in name only crowd should be taken out and beat severely about the head and shoulders. Go ahead and elect Arnold. When he doesn't accomplish anything and California slides farther in the hole it will be the republicans falt and not Arnold the person.

So, McClintock is a jackass for making a promise and keeping it
He's a jackass for understanding that loyalty works both ways -from the bottom up AND from the top down.
He's a jackass for having the integrity to stay the course once he gave his word to do so.
He's a jackass for standing up to both Davis and Arnold. Standing up to the Democrat and Republican machines
He's a jackass for saying unequivocally That he supports the bill of rights INCLUDING THE SECOND AMENDMENT.
McClintock is a jackass for sharing the same values that I and most of the other people on this board have.
I think I'll be a jackass and vote for McClintock.
I think I'd rather be a jackass than a sellout any day.
I'm sick of compromises.

A main reason we are in the shape we are is because many voted The Ticket rather than for The Person.

Repubs have sold us out as fast as have the Dems - OK, just at a slower rate - maybe.

McClintock is entirely too capable a politician to be caught in that septic tank AKA California.

I think he oughta extort promise of heavy duty RNC support for a run for the first senate seat to open. Let Anhauld go for governor and tee up McClintock for a senatorial run.

The US could use a guy like McClintock. Keeping him in California is like putting lipstick on a pig. It ain't gonna help the situation.

Just my 2 cents.

Big Mac is the best but it appears his fortune is waning. Arhnauld is better than G. D. (and the second intial is a "cuss" word) but not by much. Either way, we're losing. :(
