Model 8000 in .40. cal...
What is the best defense load for the ready to roll...?
And whats the best round for target???
Any thoughts....buddy bought if for me....Hnff...I'm crying...Luv you man!

Probably something fairly light in the short barrel to keep velocity up. Perhaps a 155 or 135gr.
I like 165gr. Golden Sabers in my CZ40, but that's got a 4.5" barrel.

The available ammo ranges from 135-180. They are finding even for police use that the 180 has too much penetration. The 165 seems to be the favorite for LEO use . But as a civilian the 135 or 155 will do fine. I carry the 155 Hydra-shok.

I also recommend the 165 grain Remington Golden Saber. You should still be in the 1100+fps range even from a Cougar. Speer has a 165 grain Gold Dot that is also in that fps range that should be quite good. I suggest that you stick with 155 or 165 grain weights for target shooting as well.
