Cheap pistol scope?

I finally got a rail installed on my m44. Since the rail is so far forward i am in need of a pistol scope due to the eye relief distance.
Since I am dealing with a rifle that only cost around $100, i am not looking to drop "big bucks" on a scope. My concern is that if i go cheap on a scope, like a lower ncstar it will result in poor performance because i am using such a large round on a scope that was designed to handle a pistol round.
I am not looking for a lot out of the scope as my land only permits me to fire a little beyond 200 yards due to natural obstructions.
Any suggestions on what to get or am i just setting myself up for a nightmare looking for a cheap pistol scope to put on a mosin?

Cheap + Scope = Nightmare.
Go on Ebay and look for a used Leupold M8 or other pistol scope.

Even if it turns out bad, which is very unlikely, it has a lifetime warrenty

I put a Weaver 2x thru hellenback and it came out fine. I highly recommend it as an inexpensive option.

Burris is as cheap as I would go and they have good pistol/scout scopes.

Cheap pistol scope?
No such thing. Not if you want something that will last you. I've seen rimfire pistols rattle the heck out of lower end scopes and reddots.
For your rifle, you're not neccessarily looking for a pistol scope. Do some searches on Long Eye Relief scope, or Scout scope for M44 or M38.
Is there a peep site available for an M44? If you do go with a scope, it'll probably cost more than the rifle did.

Thanks for warning me on the problems related to cheaper scopes. It looks like the scopes you guys have suggested all run between 100-200. Its more then i wanted to spend but I would rather do that then buy a cheap scope and have to replace it right away.
forgive my ignorance but when you mean a scope "rattles" does it mean its losing a losing its zero when you shoot it or does it mean something else? it helps to know the lingo when getting into a new hobby ^_^

Look at it this way.
At todays ammo prices, you could easily shoot up the difference in cost of a good scope, fighting a bad scope that won't adjust properly, or hold zero.
My last lesson with cheap scopes was with a $25 buck BSA I put on a new Beeman air rifle. I probably shot close to 200 shots chasing the zero all over the target before I finally gave up and took it back for a refund.
I can normally zero any scope with five shots, ten at the very most.

"Rattles" means "Rattles". Inside. Not only lost zero. I mean the parts rattle inside. Retical, lens's and other pieces.

The type of scope your looking for on that forward mount is a long eye relief model, commonly referred as scout model. (Germans used them to very good effect on some sniper rifles.) You might google the two terms "Long eye relief scope" and "Scout Scope" and see what you find. Not every company makes them anymore and the close eye relief scopes are the standard now. But they are out there...
