Wow, that Yarygin PYa looks pretty cool. The barrel is a little short for my tastes though. Kind of looks a bit like a Browning BDM.

I was thinking it looked like the Colt model 2000, but yeah I could see the BDM, too.

I really like the look of that GSH-18.

Ok, so how do they shoot? How are the triggers? Accuracy? They are Russian, so I'm not going to bother asking about reliability. :)

I wish these were imported. I have a Russian shotgun that I got for $300 that would probably be $800 if it were American. I have a Russian rifle that was $500 that is equivielnt to most $900 American rifles. Both are super ugly, a little rough, but extreamly sturdy and reliable.

I imagine that the pistols would be similar, and if that were the case, I would buy them in a heartbeat.

the SR-1 "Gyrza" in 9x21 SP10 looks like a Makarov's ugly stepbrother

Max, very nice website! What are the CCW laws like in Russia? There aren't any. You can't even own a handgun there. Òîëüêî ìèëèöèÿ è âîå**èå ìîãóò *îñèòü èëè èìåòü îðóæèå (Only cops and military can carry and possess weapons).

You mean only cops, military and mafia members? ;)

I agree. The last one also looks similar to a Browning BDM to me.

So MAX, what were you ready to kill?
Got your finger on the trigger there, and looks to me like a populated area.
Never have seen a range with houses and cars up on the firing line.

Shame, shame, shame.....

Hi Max-

I'd be interested to learn more about the GSH 18. That thing looks like it's got a super low bore axis and would point about like a finger.

It would be way cool if we could import small arms from Russia. *sigh*

Some info on GSh-18 available here, soon will update with new pics and some more info. http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg111-e.htm

About the triggers: Late production PYa pistols have more or less acceptable triggers, in both DA and SA, bu the best of three in SA is SR-1 Gyrza - wery smooth and short. The DA trigger of SR-1 is consisitent, but long and somewhat heavy. The other thing about SR-1 is its grip safety, which blocks the sear, but not the trigger, and can be easily left "ON" with improper grip under the stress, which could be fatal.

The GSh-18 has a glock-like trigger with short and relatively heavy pull, but can be surprisingly accurate, thanks to it low bore axis and non-tilting barrel.

the only generally poor (IMHO!) thing about all three pistols are their sights - even with those "white inserts", they left a lot to be desired.

I also was somewhat surprised by the popularity of the old big Stechkin APS pistol among our special police (swat-like) teams. Obviously, it almost never fired in full-auto, but thanks to its large mass, low recoil (it fires 9mm PM ammo) and long sight line it could be fired surprisingly accurate in rapid-fire mode, even from the move. One OMON member managed to hit 10 inch steel plate from about 20-25 yards when running really fast parallel to the target line, firing some 4 or 5 rounds, of which at least two ringed the steel - and believe me, it was not by the chance.

Max,
That's a nice Pistolet Makarova you have there!! By chance, is that your issue weapon??
Over here, we can own the PM. I have seven!!!! :D
Aesthetically, the others don't stand up to the PM!!
Nikolay (sp) was a genius!!!!!

No, this PM is not mine, it was included into picture by some Road Police officer, who attended the event. he also tried the GSh-18 and it fit perfectly into his open-top service PM holster.

I was issued with the PM when i was in army, but now i'm waiting for my first shotgun permit. Handguns are complete no-no for average civilians here :uhoh:

The "Grach" now became the Yarygin PYa, it is 2nd from the bottom on the first photo, and the one i aim with on the last photo.
