Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon hosted 16 mayors (http://www.mayorsagainstillegalguns.org/html/events/baltimore_summit.shtml)and city representatives from 7 states at a regional violence reduction summit where the coalition announced plans to share crime gun data in the Mid-Atlantic region. At the conference, mayors discussed the escalating crime trends and the costs of gun violence and other strategies to reduce violent crime, including intelligence gathering.

Now she was charged today with 12 counts of felony theft (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/baltimore_city/bal-dixon0109,0,3147190.story), perjury, fraud and misconduct in office, becoming the city's first sitting mayor to be criminally indicted.

Another anti gun politician bites the dust. Here is a list of the other mayors at the MAIG conference:

Mayor Sheila Dixon (Host) Baltimore, MD
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg New York, NY
Mayor Douglas H. Palmer Trenton, NJ
Mayor Jerramiah Healy Jersey City, NJ
Mayor James M. Baker Wilmington, DE
Mayor J. Richard Gray Lancaster, PA
Mayor Tom McMahon Reading, PA
Mayor Ellen Moyer Annapolis, MD
Mayor John S. Brenner York, PA
Mayor Carleton E. Carey, Sr. Dover, DE

Cities Sending Other Representatives:
Jacksonville, FL
Camden, NJ
Philadelphia, PA
Newark, NJ
Towson, MD
Boston, MA

How many more will go to jail?

WTH
When the Mayors against illegal guns first started flapping their lips the mayor from Carmel, Indiana (Brainard) joined. He was convinced quite quickly to drop out of that group.

Now I notice on the MAIG website that there are at least 6 other mayors in Indiana that have joined. :banghead:

EDIT:
It looks like 10 mayors from Indiana are members now. Jeez, don't pay attention for a couple months and look what happens. It's letter writing time and time to put up messages at the range.

Looking at that list, it appears that many of the cities are closely situated. Towson, for example, is a city that adjoins Baltimore on the North-West. Annapolis is less than thirty miles away, and has little crime problems today when compared to Baltimore.

I am not shedding any tears for Ms. Dixon but an indictment is an allegation, and should not be taken as proof of guilt.

You misunderstand. Ms. Dixon is only against VIOLENT crime and only if it is committed by someone other than herself. She has "blagged" on the allegations.

("Blagged" is a word I have just invented. It means an accused public official making statements of total denial, refusing to leave office and claiming that any charges of wrongdoing are based on politics, even though there is solid evidence of corruption.)

the coalition announced plans to share crime gun data in the Mid-Atlantic region. This is legal for officials at their level, I assume?

"crime gun data" to me sounds like a firearm used in the commision of a crime and recovered as evidence of that crime. That should actually be public information, if the evidence is used in court, right?

No tears here for Sheila Dixon. Part and parcel to B'more's problems ever since she joined the city council. She has acted like a first class b$%h from day one.
