I looked around....and found a couple things. First off I am in Denver city and county. I saw that the Colt AR-15 was banned by name. As well as assault...eh hem....sporting rifles with mags over 20 rounds. Can anybody verify this? Just looking to remain in the confines of the law while still being able to get what I need out of the weapon. Looking at various weapons but no COLT ARs. Please confirm or advise. Thanks.

Some will say that the Denver laws are still valid; others will say they are preempted.

Denver says their laws are still valid and binding on Denver residents.

Treo,
Thanks for the only intelligent response yet. I appreciate that.

If they have COLT AR-15 by name, are they also excluding other AR variants, AKA anything else but Colt manufactured ARs?

I think there were some court battles that ended up changing Denver city/county law. As I understand it, specific weapons are not banned, just magazines over 20 rounds.
You should check out the section below that is on the city website under:
Sec. 38-130. Assault weapons
