I am new to KS and just missed deer season for the year but am going through their regs today and had some questions.
1. ''Feral swine may not be killed for sport, pleasure, amusement or production of a trophy'' - Does this mean that you can only kill them for meat?
2. ''Permission from adjacent landowners is required to hunt road ditches'' - Are you allowed to hunt next to/on public roads? This would be a first for me.
3. It appears as though two way radios are illegal for hunting big game and turkey. If you carry the radios for other reasons are you in danger of a ticket?
3.

From what I understand you are not allowed to hunt hog in Kansas for any reason. I think it has something to do with their fear that if it becomes sport, people will start to introduce them, in-turn causing more problems. Or so I've been led to believe. Feral hogs are shoot-on-site in Missouri though!
You can't road hunt anywhere on public roads but I don't know what they are talking about with the ditches and adjacent owners. That's a new one to me.
I'm not really sure about the radios for other reasons either. I know it's a no-no for big game hunting. I think it would be best to call Pratt and ask a CRO there for better answers.

No hunting from public roads. We do have some hogs in a few
small locations but the bigest consentration is on the Fort
Riley military base and there are a lot of hoops to jump
though to hunt there. They were getting to be to many hogs
a few years back on the base and used helicopter gunships
to cut down their numbers.
In Kansas they are considered a non game animal and there
is no special license or limit but any hunting does require a
small game hunting license.

Thanks for the answers.

Yeah that will keep the numbers down
I went back and re-read the 2008 regulations and it does say that hunting from roads is okay. This is very strange. I don't plan on hunting from any road though.

Don't know what you are reading, but road & ditch hunting has been illegal in Kansas for as long as I can remember.
If you shoot onto an adjacent land owners property without permission, you are breaking the law. Let alone trespassing to go pick up the game you shot.

This is what I was looking at. Keep in mind it is for 2008.
It is illegal to hunt, shoot, or trap on private
land without the owner's permission. Hunting
from public roads requires permission of the
landowner adjacent to the side of the road
being hunted. Railroad rights-of-way require
permission from the railroad.
As I said I find this very odd.

Well, there are some dirt roads in western Kansas running through mile square wheat fields that probably haven't seen a car since last years pheasant season.
In that case, it probably makes perfect sense.
