Has anyone tried Bore Butter as a bullet lube for modern smokeless cartridges with cast lead bullets?

The only true lube that can be used for both smokeless and black powder is SPG. Spg is a very very good lube for black powder and works good for smokeless. I would not use bore butter for smokeless. the properties are not the same. it thins out pretty quicly. which is a problem when shooting black powder. heat is borebutters biggest enemy.

Hmm, ok.
Thanks for the info, Scrat.
I'd use it as a supplemental surface lube for bullets with existing hard lube in the groove(s), sort of like how I'm trying the Lee Alox now for bullets that are a little too hard for .45 and .38 pressures.

Dont ever use alox on bullets for black powder. i did that once. i had 50 bullets that were lubed with allox. i loaded them up 45 colt for my walker. oh my gosh. that is the worst lead fouling i have ever seen. it took me hours to get it out. the barrel looked so bad in the inside. since then spg. another sure fire no lead. is spg load them then put bore butter over the top of the bullets. never got leading in my walker again.
