How about a pic with almost all of my .45's? :) It has my Kimber Compact I, CDP I, Stainless Target II, Norinco and Springfield Mil-Spec in it. Then it also has my Carbon-15, M41, Makarov and Ruger MK II.

Here are almost 90 years of 1911's. Upper left is an Augusta Armory rebuild model 1911 with a Springfield frame and Colt slide. I think the frame is from 1918, if I recall correctly. Upper right is a WWII 1911A1 Remington Rand, lower left a WWII 1911A1 Ithaca, and lower right a current Springfield PB9108L.

AnthonyRSS and jmilliron, where in the world did y'all find those grips?!? Absolutely amazing, they are. :)
Also, what's the deal with almost everyone having skeletonized hammers and triggers? Are they for "performance" or just for looks?

Also, what's the deal with almost everyone having skeletonized hammers and triggers? Are they for "performance" or just for looks?
I have a skeletonized hammer because spur hammers don't work with most beavertail grip safeties, and the traditional grip safety takes a nasty chunk out of my hand. As for the skeletonized trigger, I have a longer trigger because my hands are huge.
AnthonyRSS
April 26, 2005, 05:30 PM
Skeletonized triggers and hammers reduce lock time, making the gun easier to shoot accurately. And I have fairly big hands so a long trigger makes the gun feel less cramped.
Thanks for the compliment,
Those grips are Alumagrips, a buddy of mine got them for me for Christmas.

I was going to go with Gunner grips on my GI after I got it back from the refinisher, but decided to be a little different and went with Larry Davidsons lizardgrips in stead. Same material, different execution.
Yes, they're Gunner Grips. After years of T&E, I finally found grips that are perfect for me. Very grippy, yet not too sharp and built like a tank. It doesn't get any better.
Oh and here's one that I haven't posted in this thread. Baer Stinger with Baercoat and non-ambi Ed Brown safety:
http://www.black-talon.org/RKBA/guns/Baer_CCO_0800_L.jpg
I have several other 45acp handguns. However, I like my Kimbers best. An early stainless Custom with Carbon Creation grips. A Pro-Carry CDP II with Kimber rubber grips. An Ultra-Carry CDP with Carbon Creation grips.

It's not flashy and pretty like a newer 45 and it doesn't have all the features, but it is reliable and accurate. It is a 1938 ballister rigaud. 3 digit serial number. I have had colts, kimbers and springfields. This is the one I kept. It has never let me down. It shoots anything I can put in a magazine. Replaced all the springs about a year ago thats it.

I have previously owned many .45acp handguns:
Sig P220ST
Sig P245
Kimber Custom TLE II
Springfield GI WWII Champion
Springfield Compact
Springfield Ultra Compact
Colt 1991
They are now only memories but they have all made it easy to move up to another level of .45acp handgun.
My current pair that will NOT be sold or traded are Wilson CQB's Full Size & Compac.:

OK I guess I will throw my photo in as well. Springfield stainless Champion. "Bobbed" frame with Esmeralda grips. Novak night sights. Ed Brown hammer, extended mag release, ambi safety, sear, and MSH with 30 lpi hand checkering on the front and rear grip. Squared under trigger guard and 3.5 lb trigger job. Fully supported ramped match grade bull barrel and bright polished slide flats.
Two of the three loves on my life. The third wouldn't pose in this one, she's too shy.

After arguing with the .22magnum carry crowd, I find coming in here and witnessing your posts frankly good for the soul!
Just one thing though, my .45’s have seen enough use both in carry and range sessions - that they look NOTHING like your pretty nice shiny .45s!!!

I wonder if the moniker ‘shiny edges & thin blue’ is taken here?
Guess I must be of the poorer in this fraternity.

...But, here's my only 1911 so far... An Auto Ordnance GI .45 that I bought sometime last year. Nothing special, but it's accurate and it works. When I get another 1911 that's nicer to look at, I'll be back to post it. :)
Sistema Colt about halfway finished. Lots of Wilson parts.
Still gotta open up the ejection port and do some checkering. Forgive the skateboard tape on the front strap.

This is a LW Commander I built in 1975 on an AR Sales frame and an Essex slide. The barrel is a 5" Colt.
I have at least 12,000 rounds through it and the frame has a small crack. Koa grips carved by yours truly. Real nice carry gun.
EAA Witness built on a special order years ago. Full-size steel frame, compact ported slide, full-size barrel. Custom Koa grips.

Another pair of Baer's, one for play and the other for CCW. I've got to learn how to take better photos though.
hey rip, i like the wilson mag just because i plan on getting a custom cdp and i like the plastic follower over the metal ones. ive heard that it is better for aluminum frames? they all feel 100% no problems and lock the slide back when empty. the wilsons are easy to take apart and clean and they also self lubricate. hope that helps.
