All,
See my above post for the motivation. And since my new best friends at the local toy store knew what they were gettingin the 1201 and still gave me a great trade value plus cash, I am now happy.
I picked up a Benelli Nova in 20g, 26" barrel. I will use this for some shooting sports, foul weather hunting and training my wife. The grouse hunting I do is most times wet and muddy stuff in nov/december Ga mtns. I like the indestructible nature of this shotgun and plan to give this to my son when he gets older.
Nice overall package, frame size and pistol grip width is slimmer then 12 gauge. Weight is about 6.5 pds and with three choke tubes. One thing I found out was the adjustable stock pull for the 20s. By removing or adding spacers between pad and stock I can lengthen or shorten the stock. As big as I am in the chest and shoulders, I like a shorter stock and this is a nice feature.
Question for everybody else... being a lefty has made me adopt to right firearms. But, does ayone know if the safety button on the Novas are capable of being swapped to the other sides?
Shooting it last night for patterns. Action was smoother then I expected, maybe it will get glassy over time. Release button is my only large complaint. It could simply be a better design.
Fed Hi Brass #4. Nice Patterns and very accurate. I would be happy to use this on pheasants. Not bad recoil at all ...
Win x-Super #7.5 - Another nice round, but did not spread as much as I would like at 25 yds. Choke change maybe with this load.
I think I will try some Fed Hi Brass #7 for grouse and 8s for quail.
