I'm having hard time picking a tumbler to buy
I'm looking for one that will last a good while and was wondering which ones that most people on here are using.

I use Dillon's CV-500 Vibratory Case Cleaner. I've had it over 10 years and give it quite a workout! You can't beat Dillon and their no BS warrantee!!!

Well, since you didn't provide us with a dollar amount to stay with, I'd recommend the Dillon. It's amongst the best out there with very few issues unlike the Frankfort/Midway tumblers.

I got a Frankford Arsenal kit from Midway. Came with 3# corn cob media, tumbler, bucket, little bottle of polish, and sifter. Has worked great for many years.

I started with a Frankford Arsenal kit, but broke it when I fell and dropped it. Tried to fix and, oh well.
Bought a Lyman Pro 1200 Turbo for $40, and it vastly outperforms the Frankford by orders of magnitude! Still use the FA media separator and bucket, it works great.

I found a Lyman 1200 Turbo on sale a year or so ago, and it has done well.
I really like the cement mixer idea!

My Thumler's Tumbler is still going strong for over 20 years. IIRC, they also make a few for house brands

Thumlers Tumbler - UV10 vibrating tumbler. The base is open and the motor has a cooling fan on it. I use a cheap timer set to 3 hours to prevent it from running for 2 or 3 days. I took off the second set of stops so worst case scenario it would run once and not run again for 21 hours! It is pretty quiet but I still run it in the utility room and not in the house.

I have two Lyman 1200's. I've been using the one for 25+ years, the other was just given to me.
The older Lyman 1200 has gotten a little noisier, but still works fine.

I have had the Midway 1292 for years with tons of use and, guess what, No Issues - not one. I can't speak for Frankford.

Putting the tumbler on a timer is a great idea, Benz...hadn't thought of that. I've got a little "brass" sign that I hang on the basement door to remind me it's on, but I like the timer idea too. Good one!

I just bought a Cabela's tumbler kit. For $55, you get the tumbler, media and liquid polish.

Frankford here. Works just fine. I had a lead come loose on the motor but a crimp connector fixed that. I thought about buying one of the high dollor ones but couldn't make up my mind. Then midway had a sale and I picked one up just to hold me untill I could make up my mind. It is still chugging along. I will probably make my own when this one dies but I don't see me having to do that anytime soon.

It works great. It's a lot faster than the vibrating tumbler I had years ago and holds a lot more cases. The bad points are that it's loud and created a lot of dust until I made a cover for the opening.

Don't the Lymans (autoflow?) have a plug in the bottom you pull and it drains off the media itself? That would sell me in a heartbeat.

Betcha a dollar that's just a useless gimmick that doesn't work with dry media, only with liquids.

I bought a RCBS mainly because there was a Cabelas Bucks rebate on the Cabelas site. It works well.

I've never had the need to get another Tumbler, but if that decision ever comes up, my eye is on the Frankford (by the way ~ they made mine), and the Cabela's Tumbler.:)

My 23 year old Lyman Turbo 1200 is still going strong...
The only problem I'm having with it is that the darn decal is starting to curl. Anyone know how to stop that and or what glue to use to keep it in place?:D:neener:

Lyman Turbo Twin here!
I had a Frankford but it broke within a month. Midway was going to send me a replacement but I upgraded to the Lyman.
BTW: Midway didn't want the broken one back so I took it apart and a wire had broken off the motor. After a trip to the local Hardware store ($2 for wire connectors) and 30 minutes tinkering it was as good as new. I PIF'd it a long time ago.

That is what happened to mine. Maybe I should have called Midway and gotten another tumbler. Then I would have double the capacity.

Well, I'm glad yours works.
I had the 1292 and they had a safety recall on them. I finally gave in and sent it in. They shipped back a new one to me, but it was a Frankfort Arsenal. Whether Midway's 1292 was made by Frankfort or not I don't know. But, the fact remains that they had problems with the 1292 model.
My Frankfort is running well. Can't say the same for several people that have had problems with them. In my opinion and the evidence I've seen, they're junk. If one is on a tight budget I'm sure they're OK. But for a few dollars more, there's better out there and I don't recommend either tumbler.
If you want sources, I have plenty to back up my claim.

Other than the Chinese copies, I think there are only two, maybe three, makers of vib. tumblers. They just label them for the various resellers. Buy what you want to spend, they are pretty much the same for same sized machines. It's the motors that count and they all use small cheap AC induction motors.
I know Midway/Frankfort and a couple of others, don't remember which, are the same machine with different names. Their maker simply received a bad batch of motors that (mostly) went to Midway at one time. They made good on them, so it was no big deal.

That won't be neccessary. Unfortunately, what me and my group of friends experienced is almost the complete opposite of what you experienced. Thanks for sharing...

I have seen guys post just about every brand out there. So who can tell me the models that aren't made in China? I am just curious.
