Specific question about CA Handgun ban...may not be that bad after all...

Ok guys. Any of you who are familiar with me at all know that I am quite the 2A absolutist, so ANY law beyond the 2A is an absolute TRAVESTY.
That said, the new law made by SB 489 may not be that bad. Read this and tell me what you think:
Source: http://www.cali-pi.org/legislation/legsummaryprofile.shtml?index=1060714682_54
This bill would commencing January 1, 2005, for firearms not already approved, include within the definition of an unsafe handgun...
So if I am reading this correctly, that means that all the guns already on the approved list would still be OK for sale, including Glocks and 1911s, right?
So long as the manufacturers keep renewing their guns on the list...
Is this a ray of hope or am I reading this wrong? Is it time to max out the CC for handguns???
45R told me this, so I decided to research it further. Thanks, buddy! :)

Even so, it won't fly. The "approvals" given have an expiration date (it's listed on the DOJ list). So, when the grandfathered approval expires, you would have to re-qualify under the current regulations.

Could this clause apply only to handguns approved or renewed in 2004? In other words, anything up for renewal in 2005 would not be approved without the addition of the new “safety” features.…
Oh, I see bountyhunter beat me to the punch.

learn from the 'assault weapon" ban, it's supposed to sunset, sure, it only banned certain firearms............... now there are "loopholes" needing closing??????????? Be VERY wary of ANY GUN control laws. they're much easier to keep off the books than to repeal/sunset / keep from being changed at a latter date????????????????????????????//

I've never seen anything in the Second Amendment about the right to keep and bear approved arms.

"...shall not be infringed..."
As stated by posters above , any "control" is about "control" , in this instance approved guns . A matter of principle supported by history.
I'm tempted to suggest using cash to buy guns... the only paper needing to be exchanged...utilities, gas, groceries take CC and , well it IS known you pay whom what and where for these goods and services...I'd never suggest doing something , well you know...;)

Its true. If the handgun in question is on the list prior to 2006 it won't need the frivolous devices to be sold in CA. All the makers have to do is keep them on the approved list into 2006 I beleive. This law is still bad.
What's to stop the anti's from amending the law to include all handguns any year they want?

Wake up Doc Jones. There's new legislation signed by Grave Davis and it means that it has to have a loaded chamber indicator (none present on 1911) and a magazine safety. New 1911s are verboten! :(

New legislation is new legislation...it's looking like it's time to max out CC's :(

You should know by now that any gun law passed in Kali is meant to be confusing and exist for the sole purpose of making dealers and buyers just plain give up in frustration at whatever they hoped to do relating to firearms.
