I have the opportunity to purchase a Lefever A grade 20 gauge shotgun built by Ithaca around 1937; supposedly in very good condition. Pics not yet sent to me. My question; What is the differance between a Lefever A grade and a Lefever Nitro Special. I can not find much about A grades on the web. Thankyou for your time and consideration.

Nitro specials were more of an economy grade if Im not mistaken.

The A Grade/Model 5 was a step up from the Nitro in the Ithaca guns.
There's a brief decription of both here, but scroll down a page to 154 and the description is just above the pic on the right side. WARNING, don't stop to look at the $15000 price on the Syracuse A Grade gun. Move on to the Ithaca guns.
