The Hogdgon website has lots of loads for the .44 mag. Universal is what I use for medium loads with 240 gr. LSWC bullets.

Another vote For Universal Clays for lighter .44 mag loads. Like Clemy said check the Hodgdon web site or manuals. The indoor range I shoot at doesn't allow full power magnums. My favorite load 7.6 gr of Universal under a 240gr cast or swaged bullet. Sometimes use 8.5 gr for just a bit more oomph. The Lasercast bullets work fine in my Super Blackhawk with the light loads:)

Any idea what the velocity is?
I also have a SBH and use an indoor range with velocity limits.

Like the man said, go to Hodgdons web sight, or buy their $8.99 2009 reloading guide available on news-stands as we speak.
Any number of suitable powders & bullets, with velocity's starting at 750 FPS on up.

No chrony but will guess around 850 to 900 fps out of a 5 1/2" barrel. Very comfortable and accurate with no complaints from other shooters or the management:)

240 grn Lasercast SWC, 8.5 grains of Unique.
200 grn lasercast RNFP, 7.0 graiins of W231.
O.A.L. of 1.645 on all of them and you won't be sorry. Mild and very accurate.

Yep. That's my favorite non-firebreathing load for my SBH and S&W 29.
